He obviously can’t jump straight into a word title fight, as there are plenty who have been waiting, but who should he fight next to get himself back into that position?
Wilder needs to retire. There isn't anyone I want to see him fight, as any top 10 contender would spark him. Maybe match him up against one of the younger American fighters to build up their confidence.
Not sure Joshua takes the punches Chisora did tbf, although I’d still favour Joshua, but I still wouldn’t completely count out Wilder, even at this point. The fight shouldn’t be a title eliminator, as neither of them are in the current picture of contenders, but I feel many would tune in.
What we witnessed tonight was that Deontay Wilder no longer has the power to knock out a man who is 42 years old, has lost (now) 14 fights and could barely stand after 3 rounds. Deontay Wilder doesn't have the tools to get himself back into the Top 10. I imagine Frank Warren will be on to Wilder's team immediately, trying to serve him up to Moses Itauma. That's the level of fighter Wilder is going to need to beat to get another shot, and Itauma will just walk through him. Wilder is going to cash out, and he's on the correct shores in order to do so in fairness. But it's going to be retirement fights with Joshua and Fury.....He will get destroyed by the contenders over there, Dubois, Wardley, Itauma etc.
Perhaps a Joshua fight. Wouldn't be surprised if Usyk also revisited the idea of this fight. Although it would atleast have more validity than it did when the fight was first being talked about, since Wilder has gotten a win over a top 20 or so opponent, I'd still rather not see the fight as there are several more deserving contenders.
im sure matchroom are comfortable with putting him in with AJ at this point honestly a fight with kabayel would do numbers in germany and the winner (kabayel) would get the attention to fight usyk next but likely....some easy touch that wilder struggles with
