What Now For Big John Mcdermott???

I think a trip to the chippy may be in order.

 

I think he will become a gatekeeper now. Lots of opportunities for him I feel potentially, especially with Maloney having a lot of the upcoming crop.

 

If the guy lost A LOT of weight and seriously took this **** seriously, I think he could win British title easy. But there was hardly any snap in his punches. But good luck to him.. he came to fight.

 

I'd like him to stick around I guess as the 'Gatekeeper'. It takes heart and hard work to actually beat McDermott so if we have a up and comer beat him we can then start taking that boxer seriously.

About his short comings, I don't think by any means that he'd be a world beater if he was fit but it's not going to be an advantage carrying around all that fat. If he doesn't go the whole yard in training what does he expect? I don't think he ends up as unlucky he makes his own luck with his shitty condition.

 

On the one hand, he looked on the verge of winning for a couple rounds there.

On the other, that was meant to be the very best John McDermott in there. And but for Fury's gas tank running quickly low, he was getting shut out up to that point.

Domestic-level gatekeeper seems about right...unless he can improve his fitness further and raise the bar for the 'very best John McDermott' higher.

 

Tyson Fury would be a handful for anyone too. :deal

Hell maybe a fit McDermott can still be in the Domestic title mix? I don't really believe that, but as I said Fury would be a nightmare for all fighters just because of his sheer size. And as you say McDermott did look like he was getting the better of a knackered Fury.

Seriously though, his stamina failed him tonight. I don't think he wants to win, he has been so close to winning big fights before (ok he beat Fury the first time) but when it comes to the nitty-gritty, do or die stuff he chokes. Not a slating him at all, its something deep down in us, you either have it or you dont. He is a talented guy just dosent have the mindet to suceed, he snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.

 

You think McDermott doesnt take boxing seriously cos he doesnt have 'ripped' abs?

As for his so called snapless punches, they had enough snap in them to have Fury looking to his corner with pleading eyes, begging to be pulled out.

The McDermott fat jokes are wearing thin now if you ask me, Big John just did a Rogie against Sexton, & came in for the rematch so fired up, he punched himself out. Fury was a lucky boy, & the tears afterwards told the true story of a fighter who knows he drank in last chance saloon, & somehow lived to tell the tale.

 

Gatekeeper for me.

I don't think he'd have as much success as he's had if he lost a lot of weight. He relies on the weight to bully opponents and allow him to press forward all of the time. Without it I think his chin would be a lot weaker too.

He's still a tough opponent to beat so should prove to be a sound measuring stick for up and coming prospects.

 

Weight loss hopefully, can't be healthy carrying around that much fat.

 

vs. Price would be a good scrap while it lasts

 

Fight Maloneys otger heavies for the english when Fury vacates. Would be a test for Larry O, Dallas and Price and all would be acceptable 2nd fights on FFN. Its that or become a journeyman in Europe.
