Despite great ratings ITV have dumped boxing. Sky are using Maloney, Hatton, Hearn and occasionally Warren. Primetime are PPV only and lets be honest, pretty small fry at the moment. ESPN have so far shown no interest in domestic boxing. So what's next for Big Mick? Doesn't seem to have much in the pipeline apart from Froch's super 6 commitments.
Hennesy will descend into small hall shows I think, the future lies with Hatton, and you have to admit, Hatton fills his cards better than Hennesy
Who cares? He had a brilliant opportunity and totally blew it after making a very good start. If it wasn't for the loyalty that fighters seem to show toward him he'd have been done ages ago. Problem is, a lot of his shows now seem to be 'jobs for the boys' events rather than meaningful fights..... so they aren't going to generate much interest.
That is both an interesting and pertinent point. When you look at his roster of fighters, you have to wonder which ones will stick with him: http://www.hennessysports.com/boxers.htm Now with no TV platform, being a Hennessy fighter isn't a good thing. Barker and Murray should be names that the general public know about by now considering that they are set to be moving up to Euro and then possibly onto the world stage.
i read in the boxing news that the Darren Barker fight brought in a very big crowd ratings wise and that they've reconsidered keeping boxing on the itv4 channel. So maybe he will keep with them.
I really wish that Froch would leave Hennesey. If that were happen then the rest would soon follow. I've had enough of fat Mick and his primetime bull****. I've never known of another promoter ****ing up such a big opportunity to attain exposure as he did with the super 6.
That's a good shout. Will get him a lot more coverage so i think he should definitely look at teaming up with Hatton.
Now thats 'Big Mick's' TV cash has gone, expect to see him shopping in ASDA for smart price, instead of Birdseye.
Just cause you used to fight doesnt make you a good promoter though, the **** could be as useful as his brother is at fighting
think this was more wishful thinking. Frochs next two fights are being promoted by other promoters abroard. If he gets to the semis and final they would be in the states. So Froch can basically manage himself. I get a feeling he will base him self in the states as american tv like him and a Promoter out there could build him up as a Gatti type fighter. Murray I would be shocked if he is not with Hatton within a year. Although would make sense if he went with Warren on the guarentee he fights Mitchell or Khan. Hennesey has won the purse bids for him fighting for the euro title, im sure that would be the first hennesey fight if he gets a new deal. Barker would get snapped up by Warren if not Maloney or Hattons. He sells tickets, fans like him and has world class potential. Warren would get him a WBO title fight within a year. He could have Barker and Mitchell in world title fights together selling the 02. There is also O'Donnell and Fury who promoters would want to snap up. If Warren got Fury he could put on a Heavyweight tournement with Chisora, Sexton, Rogan and others.
