He needs to fight Joel Cassamyor if he wants to be considered the champion at lightweight. Diaz has the belts, the skills, and the power - but not the lineal championship. Cassamayor defeated Corralles to become champion. Diaz will not be universally recognized as champ until this is settled in the ring.

Although - I will admit that I am sorely upset that the Katsidis/Diaz fight is off. That would have been an instant classic.

I hope I'm wrong but getting away from DK won't be as easy as waiting for march 31... there are a lot of sh*t in these contracts and if Don's lawyers can find any weapon to use against the Baby Bull, there will be BLOOD and a lot of court cases. Imagine that: a company won the official purse bid as another didn't compete. Now after the official (very Pro-Diaz in cash) contracts are signed, the other promotional company comes showing a piece of paper that his boxer can't fight in an event promoted by another company. So this company did not compete in the official purse bid AND preventing the fight at the same time. How's that for a headache? Doing something without doing anything or not doing anything in doing a lot of sh*t. I'm sure that if the Diaz camp will protest and not fight until 31/3/08, waiting for the contract to expire, the lawyers will have the battle not the fighters. That's a shame. 1,2 million, Diaz and his manager also signed and this sh*t comes. Hopefully after a few months of legal battle GBP or HBO will step up to the plate.

The more I want the fight to happen. Diaz will dispose him off easily. It doesn't play well for Diaz if he'll be branded as having ducked a Linear Champ irregardless how "out of his prime Casa" is.

Finish him off, get the proper recognition then go on with the order of business.

 

Katsidis will still be fighting on HBO in Feb. just a different opponent.

Juan will have to fight someone else. This was going to be a good fight.
