This is the most sickening and cruel part about Loma getting robbed of his dream on Saturday The only reason he moved up to 126 was because all the other champions were ducking or avoiding him so he was unable to achieve his dream of becoming undisputed at that weight World champion GRJ wanted zero to do with him even though he said he would beat him 99 times out of 100 after Loma had baptized his ass on his own soil World champion Lee Selby openly admitted he wanted a few years to establish himself before he had a unification fight World champ Twink ducked Loma like crazy at 130 so Loma moved up to 135 because he could not become undisputed at that weight either. Either the other champs ducked him, wanted nothing to do with him, or fights against them couldn't be made for whatever reason but he wanted that smoke with them all So he moved up to 135 and this is how he went about his business Fight 1 Prime WBA champ Linares who was ranked #1 and was ranked #11 P4P by The Ring Fight 2. Unification match up against prime WBO champ Pedraza which was a very tough fight indeed for someone coming back from shoulder surgery just seven months earlier. Most fighters take an easy touch or face a lesser opponent coming back from an injury and surgery like that, let alone jump into a unification match up against a highly skilled two weight world champion Fight 3. Mandatory challenger and former WBA champ Crolla after IBF champ Commey pulled out of unification match up with Loma due to injury Fight 4. Unification WBC belt match up against prime Campbell in his backyard Fight 5. Unification match up against prime IBF champ Teofimo in his backyard Fight 5. Prime top contender Nakatani who KO'd Verjedo and gave Teofimo 12 rounds of hell, which again was a very tough opponent for someone coming back from shoulder surgery eight months earlier Fight 7. Prime former IBF champion Commey who weighs 3 divisions more than him As said, if not for Commey pulling out injured his first four fights at the weight would've all been ones where there were new belts were on the line, the fourth being for undisputed, Loma is the one who put in all the hard work winning all three belts individually on the road in a division full of giants Massive weight bully Teofimo annexed three off him in one fell swoop in his own backyard with a home ref and three home judges against a fighter he was two divisions heavier not one who was 2 divisions heavier than him like Loma had been doing at 135 And then Kambosos won them all in one fell swoop off a very poor Teofimo in his backyard (if you don't subscribe to the email champ business). Then Loma returned to serve his country to help out in war effort and turned down a shot at Kambosos and the chance to achieve his dream of becoming undisputed because he put his country over his personal dream and he would've categorically beaten Kambosos but I'm very confident he would've stopped him. I wish he' taken that opportunity but his reasons for not doing so are commendable and a measure of the man Haney's disgusting vermin fans waged a campaign on social media as soon as they caught wind of Loma facing Kambosos smearing Loma as a being a coward for not staying to defend his country. There was lots of them out there doing this to try and ensure that Haney got the shot instead of him and I kid you not some were making comments about hoping Loma died in the war so that Haney got the shot instead and the weren't joking. Yeah, like I said, vermin. So then massive weight bully Haney stepped in won them all in one fell swoop from Kambosos in his backyard against a fighter he weighs 2 divisions more than and who cannot deal with boxers. Hence his SD struggles with an old past it inactive Mickey Bey and past prime career 126 Lee Selby. In fact, Kambosos won his previous three fights via SD prior to facing Haney Fight 8. After an 11 month layoff due to helping defend his country Loma returned and took a tune up against undefeated and talented contender (and of course way bigger) Jermaine Ortiz Then after everything he'd been through. Winning three belts individually on the road against much bigger opponents, falling at the final hurdle and failing to collect the last piece of the jigsaw against a massive weight bully Teofimo who was way bigger than him. All the injuries, the two shoulder surgeries on the career-threatening injury he first suffered in the 2nd round of his debut at the weight against Linares, his country being invaded, having to turn down the opportunity to achieve his dream of becoming undisputed against Kambosos he finally gets another chance to achieve Fight 9. He takes on the biggest weight bully in boxing Devin Haney in his backyard, again, as with GRJ and Teofimo, with a home refs and three home judges for them, someone who already weighs three divisions more than him under 24 hour weigh in rules, with a 36 hour weigh in to ensure Haney was allowed an eternity to rehydrate and blow way back up in weight and have an even more massive weight advantage over him and he was robbed blind at 35 years of age. And people wonder why he was crying in his dressing room after the fight? Undisputed was always his dream since he turned pro
Let me put it this way. I’d struggle to mention any European countries where boxing is not among the top 10 most watched sports. And anything belonging to any top ten categories is not “irrelevant”. Is boxing the most popular sport in these countries? No, not at all. Is it still among the most popular sports? Yes, everywhere in Europe. Participation is low, it’s not common to go to boxing gyms. But in terms of viewership, yes, it is popular, absolutely.
Are you saying TR fights always have weigh-ins earlier than the official ones? I'm confused because if that's the case, why is there so much controversy about it?
Well I have been noticing they seem to do earlier closed door weigh ins then later a ceremonial public weigh in.
