Yeah, promotion is everything, the casual Brits will buy anything, Fury has a decent fanbase but most people would buy in the hope he gets knocked out
Are you talking about McGregor vs Mayweather? That wasn't Conor's PPV debut he'd done a bunch of PPV events with UFC doing over a million buys. Does Wilder or Fury has some other career in another sport where they are PPV stars that I'm unaware off. Ginger midget, is that Canelo? I assume you are talking about his fight with Mayweather. I'm talking about when a fighter headlines a PPV themselves and doesn't have to rely on a proven PPV star like Mayweather to inflate his numbers. First time Canelo fought on PPV as the headliner he fought Angulo and sold 350K PPV's.
The media circus is the only reason this would do decent numbers. Wilders fights don't do great, based on previous fights. Fury inactivity means we don't know what numbers he will get. The hype in the build up should mean reasonable numbers, both have mouths to promote a good show. Would make more sense for fury to have a few more fights and be the main bout so we have an idea, coming off an undercard tells us nothing.
Except the winner vs. AJ might not be on Showtime. So why give it away. There seems to be agreement that this fight can do at least mid-level PPV numbers and help build a star for future PPVs. There’s not enough money to make a Wilder-Fury fight without PPV income.
Give over, it wouldn’t get close to that if it was a U.K. PPV, never mind a US PPV airing at 4am. Realistically this does maximum 200k UK PPV buys, if it’s promoted well. Regarding the US I’ve voted for 300-500k, but a lot closer to 300k.
as to possible uk tv numbers fury v klitchko in the uk did 500k at 10pm fight time and big promotion and antics from fury las vegas fights are around 4.30 am sunday mornings and it will be coming up to uk winter. and fury might look fat and still out of shape which will put a dampner on promotion.
The highest uk PPV has all been on sky and has benefitted from that channels non stop marketing via Sky sports news etc. That's been the key to hooking the casual foot. crowd in my view. This would be on bt sport and I think that would impact take up. I think boxing is more popular since Furys Düsseldorf fight though, he may benefit from that.
About 150. Yeah, along with Crawford Postal, who did under 100, those are the worst case scenario examples. It might go down that way. I think it being hw, and Fury and Wilder being talkers who can promote a fight (theoretically), it will probably do better than that, but tough to say for sure.
