DESPITE beating Andre Dirrell on a split decision, Britain's Carl Froch has slipped from second to third favourite in outright betting for the Super Six tournament with William Hill who now make Arthur Abraham, winner over Jermain Taylor, 7/4 favourite with Mikkel Kessler, yet to fight at 15/8 and Froch 10/3.
'Froch was far from convincing against inexperienced Dirrell and will have to improve to come out on top in an event of this calibre' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills also make Andre Ward 5/1, with Dirrell and Taylor the 25/1 outsiders.

I struggle to see why Froch is still ahead of Ward in the betting after Saturday's outcome. Dirrell was just about the least favoured fighter in the whole tournament before Saturday night yet he very nearly took a decision from Froch. Since moving up to the world level Froch has 3 fights, two of which could easily have ended in defeats. I guess the thing that keeps him up there is that '0'.

Kessler strong favourite for me.

 

I'll always be wary of betting on underdogs after the Tyson Fury V McDermott fight. I got around 15/8 after a smilar number of rounds on Big John only for the judges to screw it up and gift Fury.

Promoter Mick Hennessy is set to turn his attention to deciding on a location for Carl Froch's blockbuster Super Six showdown with fellow world champion Mikkel Kessler - but admits the Englishman may have to go to his rival's backyard.

WBC super-middleweight champion Froch enjoyed the raucous support of 8,000 people in Nottingham on Saturday as he beat American Andre Dirrell, and next up in the Super Six Boxing Classic is a clash with Denmark's WBA champion Kessler.

Hennessy said: "We'll begin talks now but we have an agreement with Sauerland Events (Kessler's promoters) that wherever it makes commercial sense and wherever we're going to get the biggest gate - whether it's Copenhagen or Nottingham - is where it will be."
