And if there is another boxer that did what JR did, did they come back in the rematch and win it after only winning one round in the previous bout and being completely outclassed/outboxed?

Just dont get reasoning behind desire for rematch of JJC jr and Martinez, aside from $$$. If that knockdown happened in the earlier rounds but Mart had won all previous and rounds thereafter, there would be no discussion of a rematch. Just because JR lands a lucky punch in round 12 and theres no more time, hes now entitled to a rematch and the public should be excited about it? He had 12 rounds to fight and couldnt do anything. Furthermore, he couldnt even finish Mart and its not like Mart was hanging on for dear life, he was fighting back as if he needed to win that round and had lost all 11 prior rounds. For me, a rematch makes no sense. JR does not have the skills to compete with Mart. He has the size and the chin to hang around and land the luck shot. But we know that can happen in any fight to any boxer at any time. Its doesnt warrant a rematch however. Especially when you cant finish the guy off and the opponent actually strikes back after the knock down in round 12 and is game to further exchange, even after giving a nonstop beat down for the previous 11 rounds and winning the cards by a landslide.

Chisora's performance against Vitali (losing 11-1) was a moral victory

and no, getting schooled for 11 1/2 rounds and making a rallying comeback are not reasons why there should be an immediate rematch

if Jr finished him, i wonder if there would be a rematch, knowing he was outclassed for 11 rounds.

they could of easily ducked and said no, were unified, now were moving up, or something similar.

i dont want no rematch, i want to see them fight different fighters, no bums.

Funny. We all know that fight was more competative then the scorecards would suggest and not just for 1/2 a round, as well as there were many rounds left in the match.

considering he stepped up his caliber of opposition and fought a top 5 p4p fighter at his best weight and nearly knocked him the **** out, you'd expect Chavez to get a lot less hate than he's been getting

We all know he didnt fight Sergio on a level playing field concerning weight. JR knows how to "play" with the scales to tip them in his favor. Whats more spectacular about Sergios win is not only did he thoroughly outclass the YOUNGER guy for 11 rounds, but he took his best shots, got up in the championship rounds off the canvas and fired back at an iron-chined light heavyweight when he could have just held on and coasted the last round to an easy scorecard win. To me, that makes JR look worse and Sergio look better. JR had nothing to lose so he let his hands fly. Sergio had everything to lose, had the win in the bag and still let his hands fly. No need for rematch from me. $$$ talks, so they will build it up based on that last 1/2 round. But it will be a shut out with Sergio being more careful next time around. Again, JR doesnt have the skills. He doesnt even have a jab for christsakes. He has size and a chin. We all thought we knew JR was a hype job fighting smaller guys and he proved it against a true champ.

Pmsl. The scorecards may have been 11-1 but that was definitely not what it was in reality.

Sergio being booed by the mexican fans was pretty sad :-(

Chavez Jr's performance is on par with Mosley's performance against Floyd: 2-3 excellent punches that actually have an effect on the opponent momentarily and that's it
the only different is that Jr did it in round 12 whereas Mosley did it in round 2, but the rest of the fight: total domination from the other fighter

Completely agree. And even if Mosely had dropped Floyd that round, no one would have mentioned rematch after looking at the domination in the other 11 rounds. Sergio doesnt have many fights left at his age in peak condition and to waste a fight on a JR rematch is sad from a competative standpoint (although I understand Sergio taking the biggest payday and getting more $$ security from it if he so chooses to partake in it).

Ya still have to close to win the fight as one pointed out Tate-Weaver. Can't speak for Chavez-Martinez as I haven't seen it yet but fights such as Mosley-Mayweather and Holmes-Shavers 2 are still A+ clinics apart from them getting clipped. Gets a tad boring for one to dominate every minute unless they have Pep-like or Bruce Lee-like skills and can mix up their styles of dominating a fight. Go to outboxing clinic to a mid range clinic for instance.

Props to Chavez and Martinez for a great fight I hear and I can see a rematch happening. Worse than 11-1 schoolings have become rematches. Liston-Patterson 2 which was a 1 rd demolition is a great example.
