I don't believe Moore would have much chance. Larry is way to big for him. I don't know how much weight cutting was going on in Moore's day, but you're talking about a near 50 lb. weight difference. Holmes would be around the same height as Ali, and be around 17 lbs. heavier than Ali was when he faced Moorer. Does anyone recall the size difference?

Moorer? No. Fast hands, good power(even for a heavyweight); but not enough against Holmes. Moorer is too heavy on his feet, and not aggressive enough unless he is hurt.

Lourghan hasn't shown me anything on film to lead me to think he could win.

I don't think Conn has enough power to win enough rounds.

I would have to say Jones has the best shot. Jones' isn't as tall as Spinks, but has more athletic ability. He may be able to do some of the things Spinks was able to, only a little better. Jones just couldn't get caught. I would pick Holmes in this match, but the op wants to know who had the best chance to win. That would be Jones.

John Conteh looked like he was shaping up to be a damn good heavyweight early in his career.

Probably too green to expect him to beat Holmes but if he had stayed in the division a bit longer it would have been interesting.

At the stage he was at when he moved down to light heavy he could have beaten fighters like Ellis and Young.

I disagree, moore was at his best against the big men. watching how he takes apart prime big skilled contenders like valdez and baker who were on par with the likes of tubbs, page. Archie would use his shell defense/upperbody movements to slip holmes jab and and his long reach to come over the top with sneaky rights.

I think archie moore would beat holmes in 85
