A strategy can be completely sound, but if the execution of said strategy is bad, then it all falls apart.

Pressure is the natural enemy to a slick technical boxing style -- the key is finding someone who can do it well enough. And no, I don't think Cotto is that man.

He hurt his hand and rotator cup! And floyd still won! Then came back and whooped his ass full throttle when he was not injured!

    ?

OR ARE YOU SAYING IF FLOYD IS INJURED LIKE HE WAS IN THE FIRST CASTILLO FIGHT, THEN COTTO AND EVERYONE ELSE COULD BEAT HIM? IS THAT WHAT YOU GUYS ARE BANKING ON?

Besides that says something about Castillo he couldn't put away a 1/2 ass injured fighter in Floyd! Stop using this guy he is not a blueprint! :nono

Thanks for saying that! I think he won without the excuses for his bad performance too! Which once again says something about Castillo!

We dont say he is wrong we just are saying that all the pressure fighters that have tried and two of the four got knocked out. The only way to beat floyd is to hurt him(early)and keep him hurt. Them hope that you can put him out. Imo the only opening i see that floyd has is when his opponents cut the ring off, he puts his hands down and side steps out and off the rops, now ive seen ricky hit him good and de la hoya, but nobody can put him out. IDK tho floyd is TOO good so we just have to wait and see if they fight whats happens.

I think Williams has the better chance. I don't even know if I would bet on that one.
You made some good points about Cotto, but even though Floyd is older now I think he is a better fighter than the he was in the Castillo fights.
I would say if Castillo 1 had never happened Cotto would have a better chance, but I think the window of opportunity to beat Floyd Mayweather with that style has closed.
I agree that Cotto will be better on the inside than Hatton was, but at the same time to make it sound so easy for Cotto to walk in and do whatever he wants is kinda going back to the days of thinking Mayweath can't fight back and will just let him walk in, and wont fight back on the ropes. I think the cat is out of the bag on that one. If Mayweather is pressured he will respond as well as any Welter out there.
I can't assume that Floyd won't be able to slow Cotto down in the late rounds like he has always managed to do pressure fighters.
I like Williams, and MArgarito because of the size, but I just get a visual of Margarito following Mayweather around with those wide punches, and not being able to stop anything getting to the body.
I get the image of a heavy bag being banged on.
Margarito would really have a chance to prove his toughness i nthat one.

Yeah, pressuring the most accurate counter-puncher ever is the way to go. :patsch

I still say to beat Floyd Mayweather you have to be fast and slick. I give Cory Spinks a much better chance of beating Floyd than say....Miguel Cotto.

But see to me cotto fights like how dlh fought in his fight against floyd. Cotto (to me) tucks his chin and comes in low, and moving his head which is good. But that hand speed is TOO much yall im telling you. Ive seen it live in person, its one thing to watch on tv the hand speed, then its another to actually experience it. That is what i think kept dlh from throwing that jab and doing REALLY what he wanted to do. But it should be a good fight(if they fight).:good

If Castillo had won that fight, I would be a huge Castillo fan. I'm already a fan but that would have taken it higher.
As a matter of fact when I watched it live. I didn't score it, and I thought Castillo won.
I thought that for about a week. BEcause I expected Mayweather to be able to do whatever he wanted in there with him. Then I got a copy of it and watched a few times. I started to think differently so I scored it.
I don't remeember the scores I had, but I had Mayweather winning.
