What pathetic controversy will Floyd use to sell the rematch?

Floyd had to dig deep into his bag of tricks last time to even get the public's interest in a fight no one cared about. He used the "Ms. Jackson aborted my babies" **** to sell that one.

What will he pull this time for a fight even fewer people care about? It's gotta be something huge.

"And yes, Manny Pacquiao, you're next!"

    :lol::lol:

Maybe I'm missing something, but this one seems pretty obvious. A good amount of fans who watched that first fight thought Maidana won. That seems like a good selling point.

Who knows? He shouldn't be fighting Maidana twice though, waste of fights.

Floyd will make sure he has a ref that won't put up with Maidana's rough-house tactics this time, and he'll make Maidana wear the pillows again. Let's face, nothing is going to change this fight from the last one except more of a one-sided event in Floyd's favor. The public has no interest in seeing it.

How? The ref is chosen by the state athletic commission

Maidana wore Everlast Powerlock gloves the last time. That's a puncher's glove, the same gloves Matthysse uses. I think he should be able to use any commisison approved glove out there, but he's not being made to wear pillows

That's your opinion. However, you're also of the opinion that Floyd can pick the ref and that Maidana will wear pillows. That's irrelevant anyway. You asked what controversy would be used as a selling point. The answer is obvious, the public perception of the outcome of the first fight.

So Floyd wears pillows? And still wins?

he does not have to use a pathetic controversy. Pac is fighting Chris, Pac sells floyds fight by fighting a non worthy opponet. Not saying Midana is worthy but he has more star power & fan friendly style to fans.

Biggest PPV of the year already passed with Canelo vs Lara.

This is a lame comeback from a Mayweather fan. Everyone knows Floyd has brittle hands and needs pillows to protect it. He doesn't need to hurt or stop his opponents to win and just contented to win on points. Meanwhile, Maidana thrives on hurting and slowing hus oppobents down. Floyd wants to minimize the hurt by forcing Maidana to wear more paddings as possible.

It's the dumbest argument... one guy is a puncher and one isn't. Of course having more padded gloves is more of an advantage to a particular fight or MAYWEATHER WOULDN'T MAKE SUCH A STINK ABOUT IT.

No one was talking about Pac vs Algieri before you brought it up. That is a TERRIBLE fight, but has nothing to do with this particular thread.

LOL if you think Floyd won't have any influence over the ref chosen. He has the clout to deny a ref if he so wishes.

Why shouldn't Floyd take a rematch?

A lot of people thought it was close, and that Maidana won.

It's what he did when a lot of people thought Castillo beat him in their first fight.

Do you have any shred of proof over your claims? The process for picking out the ref is laid out there, it's done by the Commission. If you want to lay claim that the commission are blatently breaking their rules and allowing for a huge conflict of interests by allowing one of the fighters to pick out the ref, then surely you have some sort of proof to back up such a claim. Or maybe we should jus all take your word for it on the basis that you believe it's laughable to not believe your unsubstantiated claim?
