Leonard getting KO'ed by Camacho just shows how shot to **** Ray was, and was crucial evidence that Leonard didnt belong anywhere near inside of a boxing ring anymore

Anyone holding that loss against him is a complete ****** and should stop watching boxing. :patsch

There's plenty of question. A lot of people don't really go for that, but many also despise him.

Floyd is no where close to SRL. SRLs record is and will always be one of the best.

I really like SRL and think he's one of the greatest of all time - even better than Robinson. However, what confuses me about Leonard is that I can't figure out just how great he was - I mean every fight I watch I come away feeling that SRL was even better than what I saw, yet didn't show it for that fight. He (SRL) is a mystery to me.

Floyd may be as good, or even better than SRL....we just can't know. Floyd did well by facing Cotto last time and I give him props for that...but he's got to face the devil: Martinez or Pacman.

Better in terms of ability or greater by resume/accomplishments? I can't really see an argument for the latter: Robinson has more wins against rated opposition than Leonard has total fights. SRL beat four WBHOF/IBHOF fighters 5 times, Robinson beat 10 a total of 21 times -- but it wouldn't be the first time someone felt his in-ring performance is superior. I can't see it, personally. Robinson is maybe a tick below in terms of speed, but his power was on a completely different tier. Where Leonard is flurrying, Robinson is putting together devastating combinations. Completely incomparable in terms of durability and chin.

Put them both in the same ring and I think SRL wins.

Wait...just a second...I got a call from my wife and lightning just struck my garage. I must have pissed off the boxing gods!

Judging by another thread I just saw, what people clearly don't realise about Ray's greatness is that just because he won a LH belt(fighting at 12 stone!) against a very average weight drained belt-holder,it doesn't mean we should be discussing ridiculous match-ups against some of the best fighters of their era who are absolutely comfortable at a weight 3 or 4 divisions above Ray's best weight.
Ricardo Lopez was a fabulous boxer, but I don't expect him to beat Martinez!

SRL was a monster at welterweight.

I don't think there are many welterweights of all time who can hang with him on his best night.

Makes no difference to me pal. They're interchangable in terms of where they're at on who my favorites are so I win no matter what. :good

    Greatest Welterweights:

    #1 Ray Robinson
    #2 Ray Leonard

Are you okay with this, Pity? :deal

Just below them are some magnificent fighters such as Jose Napoles, Kid Gavilan, Henry Armstrong, Thomas Hearns, Mickey Walker, Emile Griffith, Luis Rodriguez, etc... Rich division historically.

Benitez,Dave Boy Green,Finch and watch how he figures out Kalule's awkward style and surprises again with his willingness to engage.
Watch the first Duran fight to see the heart of the man fighting in a totally unnatural style.
And he did OK against a bald fellow whose name escapes me.:huh
His pre-title performances are where you see just how much natural ability he had, guys like Price(I'm sure he was a top contender if I remember the commentary) and another one I remember when I bought his fights on DVD was a guy called Ranzani(I think) and Johnny Gant.
If you need to see Platinum Ray,it's all about what he does when he's behind in the Hearns (1st) fight though.

Only because the history books say it's so mate.
From a personal standpoint,I'd reverse that top 2.:good
    But I know I'm biased.

    That's all that matters.
