    If a fighter is getting a million dollar fight, how much is he really getting?

    Stop joking! This is really interesting.. Anyone has credible information?

    I think there should be differences among freelancers like let's say Lou Dibella or Gary Shaw and huge groups like Top Rank or GBP. It seems that these groups charge much more from fighthers salary ..

    I don't know, but take into consideration that I don't think it's tax free. Then the promoter takes a big slice. Then the trainer takes his cut. Then their manager if they have one.

    Every contract is different. Depends on the promoter and the deal the fighter has made

    the list can be long.... Ive even heard stories from sparring partners about even training camp and sparring partners taken out of the boxers share of the purse:patsch:patsch

    look at briggs... his promoter took the hospital bill total out of Shannons cut... not the total purse and then split it.... split it first and then deducted from Shannons %:patsch

    The depends on what kind of deal the fighter has. Promoters and Managers get their cut, trainers, cutman, camp fees and OSDT. lol

    Someone posted an article a while explaining boxing finances from a trainer who essentially said after he told guys what they would more than likely end up making if they were really good fighters, they walked out of the Gym and never returned.

    If memory serves me correct, essentially a boxer is looking at receiving from say a $2 Million overall purse something like $200K because of all the people that get their hands wet before the boxer gets paid if they are lucky.

    Less then people think. Most fighters get raped financially.

    every contract is different.

    but its supposed to be like this:

    Taxes = 35%

    then after IRS deduction, the fighter splits his 65% among:

    Manager = 33.3%
    Trainer = 10%
    Alphabet fees = 3-4 %
    Promoter = varies from 7%-20%
    Training expenses = 5-10%

    fighter ends up with about $150,000 out of the $1 million, on an average fair contract.

    But sleazy ripp-off artists like Arum pull in more money for themselves with fake extra expenses.

    for example, Pacman barely keeps less than 1% of his total purse, and has to barrow money from TR and/or Arum's account.
    because Arum has to BRIBE opponents to "lay down" and cover up Pac's PEDs uses, and thats alot of money pay-off suppliers.

    It depends on the situation! Standard contract would be 33 1/3 for management 10% for the trainer. A fighter with a top notch amateur pedigree would have percentages tipped more in his favor. An established. Hampton entering into a contract with a new trainer n manager would have percentages drastically skewed in his favor. That is a large reason why established fighters change trainers n managers! Promoters do not get a cut of a fighters purse! Casinos pay a site fee, TV networks put up money, advertising, overseas right, tickets sales, ppv sales that is all money give. To the promoter. From there the manager negotiates the purse! There used to be a lot of double dealing with this, but the Ali act forced promoters to reveal all sources of revenue to the fighter n manager so as to even the negotiating table. This is called full financial disclosure! Something many fighters n managers are unaware of! If a promoter does not reveal financial disclosure then the fighter has an immediate way out from his promotional contract, or dramatic leverage to renegotiate the terms of his contract! I know first hand because I used this to renegotiate Kermit's standard promotional contract into a multimillion dollar contract with many perks, dramatically increased minimums, first class travel, a large resigning bonus, and so on.

    Floyd takes all his purse and everyone else should just be thankfull for his handouts after the fight. Roger Mayweather got paid with a cheeseburger, fries and extra large strawberry milkshake for the Judah fight I been told
