I think any Tyson prior to the Danny Williams fight would obliterate and Humiliate Lyle. The Tyson version that lost Williams would be a toss up and the version that lost to Kevin McBride would probably drop a close but clear decision to a motivated Ron Lyle
Doesn’t seem to be much footage available publicly for Lyle vs O’Halloran but there is certainly the KO that can be seen. Interesting that Jack nominated Williams as the hardest puncher - even though he faced Williams when The Big Cat was well beyond his best days. Jack copped a SD over Williams, all 3 judges scorecard indicating that it was a fairly close fight. Jack had also already faced Foreman before Cleve - though he had yet to face Lyle, Ron coming 2 months after the Williams fight. Don’t know if Jack expressed his opinion re Cleve as at the time of their fight (and before facing Ron) or if he expressed it later, taking into account all the opponents he had faced in his career. One thing, O’Halloran was freaking huge, and he did suffer from acromegaly also. Good on him for later making a career in movies also - a lot easier than getting punched in the head for money. PS - I’d really like to see any photos of Cleve into older age - all available pics seem to stop at around the early 1970s - but surely there must be later shots out there.
“I think Cleveland Williams hit me harder than anyone in my whole career. Thank God I was in shape. He hit me a left hook and I felt it in my toes." ‘Irish’ Jack O’Halloran has been in the ring with Foreman, filmed with Brando and says he was the inspiration for Rocky – The Irish Sun | The Irish Sun (thesun.ie) “Cleveland Williams hit me harder than any other human being.” A Movie Legend, A Boxing Legend; An Icon Speaks: Jack O’Halloran On His Boxing And Movie Careers - Boxing News (boxing247.com) I'll respond to the rest of your post late as I'm heading off to work. Post prison is pretty vague. 96 Tyson that destroys Bruno? You actually got likes for your weak post. lol!
I know you’re going to make another post but thanks for the source material you kindly provided - excellent.
Lyle isn't beating any pre 1998 version of Tyson. In fact, the Tyson that smashed Golota to pieces likely beats Lyle.
I do agree with you that Lyle would have issues with Patterson. In fact, Patterson has a good chance of victory
No rush Swag, if at all. Instead of waiting until your next post, I just wanted to acknowledge your first post beforehand. All good.
My apologies I thought I sent my reply when I got home but it turns out I fell asleep before finishing it. But I agree, I hate when these filmed fights disappear. Such as Williams-Machen, and Liston-Valdez. I mean are you surprised? Even a gunshot Williams, despite losing half his power, was likely the hardest puncher of all time seeing as he beat out a young Foreman, Lyle. I still remember when Compton said O'halloran would've beaten a prime Williams. When he barely scraped by with an SD over the elderly, shot version of Williams he actually faced. Quite a few athletes have it right? I know Andre the giant, a famous wrestler had it. I agree. Most people who become boxers didn't really grow up in an environment that would allow them to pursue other opportunities. But I don't think acting is quite that easy. Scheduling, rehearsing, make up, preparing. You also have to learn how to act in the first place; emotions, facial expressions, etc. But yeah I agree, I'd take that any day over getting punched in the face for a living. I can take a look. I can dig up some articles if you want regarding his later life. Another person I'm looking for some info on, in their later life is Nino Valdez. Very little on him out there after his boxing career, but seems he became a bouncer. He passed in '01. Not sure how. But rumor has it, he had cancer and lay dying in the hospital. When asked how bad it hurt by his family, he replied "not as bad as getting hit by Liston"
From 96 thru the end of Tyson's career. Anything pre-prison you can forget about it. Even right after he got out I wouldn't favor Lyle but around the time Tupac got murked, I think that was the end of Tyson
