Why are people so big on SRL of the Duran 2 fight? He barely engaged and mostly showboated the entire fight. He landed nothing of consequence.. and beat a weight drained out of shape Duran. Why is this performance so impressive. I thought he had better performances against W.B. and Hearns 1.

    I tend to agree.

One of the worst major fights ever.Duran fought poorly and disgraced himself, while Leonard was tepid and scared to engage. He fought like he had a light heavy in front of him.

can you imagine Ray fighting like that against Robinson? or Burley, Gavilan etc...it would be embarassing and doomed to failure.

I keep seeing SRR as a consistant mention in here. I need to look alot closer at this guy in more fights and make a judgement call.

As I mentioned Foreman in the Lyle fight as unbeatable, anyone to rally from that circus and win, anybody has to consider.

RJJ unbeatable? You can't be serious. The guy has a proven glass chin. Are you saying he was unhittable by any boxer in history?

It's so impressive because he showed he was able to merge strategies of pointscore-to-win as well as fight-to-win at the right times. Even a prime Duran wouldn't have an answer to that Leonard IMO.

I agree. Leonard deserves credit for winning the fight but it wasn`t an exceptional performance. Duran wasn`t the same animal in the 2nd fight whatever the reason.

I only consider Clay, Holy, Jones Jr, Hearns as truly unbeatable in the following list (although I believe Lomachenko will prove to be unbeatable) but here goes:
    HW - Clay
    Cruiser - Holyfield
LHW - Jones Jr (we're talking prime here, not the Tarver fights)
    SMW - Jones Jr
    MW - Monzon
    LMW - Hearns
    WW - SRR/SRL/Hearns - impossible to pick
LWW - Whitaker although there's no ultimate proof
    LW - Duran
    SFW - Mayweather
    FW - Lomachenko
    SBW - Gomez
BW - Harada (never forget what a genius he is when prime and READY)
    SFlyW - Galaxy
    FlyW - possibly Gonzalez
    LFW - Chang
    MM - Finito Lopez

All 4 fight in the same division, doesn't this contradict your post?

Yes, yes it does. Best to ignore that baby dikk.

Super Middleweight Roy Jones, Jr. was not nicknamed Superman for nothing.
