I like Casey's enthusiasm. He exudes enthusiasm for who he is 'discussingand always poduces a good story about them.

Glen does have some odd opinions but again he exudes confidence on giving people their just dues.

You can't really post advertisements to other forums on here, can you?

Nat Fleischer in his long life in boxing I rate as the NO 1,boxing authority,
followed by Hank Kaplan for modern times..
P.S. I spoke to Hank Kaplan several times,as he and I lived in Florida..He invited me to see his vast boxing archives in his home, but I never made it..I am so sorry I didn't see his collection..But we would speak for close to an hour on the telephone..
P.S. His great collection is now at Brooklyn College, Brookly NY...Check it
    out...

    Who's a self-anointed historian that doesn't deserve the title?

Mark G. Butcher. Proof positive that just because you're getting paid to write articles, it doesn't mean you're anything more than a Boxrec warrior yourself. Guys like him are the reason that media standing and popularity/circulation are more or less useless when judging the inherent worth of someone in a particular field.

Check out his article on Jimmy Wilde. It boggles the mind how the man is being paid to do this:

"The tiny Welshman had wrecking balls in his fists that saw him KO men with mammoth physical advantages such as rugged former middleweight champion Billy Papke and ex-lightweight champion Joe Gans. "

"With his standing atop the flyweight division cemented, the diminutive Wilde embarked on an American tour in 1920 where he even engaged in a No Decision bout with future world heavyweight champion Jack Sharkey!"

    :-(

If Wilde were to accomplish such feats, we wouldn't be talking about him as arguably the best flyweight of all time, we would be talking about hands down the greatest fighter who ever lived.

    Let's not forget:

"With his standing atop the Flyweight division cemented, the diminutive Wilde embarked on an American tour in 1920 where he even engaged in a No Decision bout with future world heavyweight champion Jack Sharkey!"

:patschThe majority of his information seems to have come from a quick skim of Boxrec.

It must have been very quick because he did not even bother to check the weights and the records of those men. Must have been the ghost of the late Joe Gans that Wilde was fighting, and a teenage Jack Sharkey, yet to start his pro career in 6 more years. Actually now I don't necessarily doubt the results if that were the case.
