Maybe the dumbest call of all time. Pascal is a lunger and brawler he has no boxing skills. His promoter is stupid a smaller ring would have suited him much better vs one of the most ring smart fighters of all time.

That was just a lame performance. Pascal did not look one bit like a champion. He looked out of it the entire second half. A decision for Bhop would have lended a lot more credibility to Canada.

Nah. Pascal fights in spurts. He spends about 2:30 of each round just circling.

Hopkins is old. He looks to cut off the ring when you circle. Why would you want a smaller ring? You want a big ring so you can get on your bike and take a break.

Think of it this way: If Hopkins wants to run from Pascal, Pascal will catch him simply because he's too athletic. If Pascal wants to run, then ollllld Bernard has to chase him around that bigass ring.

Perfectly reasonable and quite smart. If the ring hadn't been that size, Pascal might have gotten stopped in the 11th.

Don't know how you can lose respect for an entire country based off of questionable scoring in a boxing match? I'm American, had Hopkins winning clearly and thought he got jobbed, but it did nothing to change my thoughts on Canada.

I don't care much for Pascal or his team either...

I truly disagree. he did his best work and knocked Bhop down 2x when he had Hopkins in the corner on the ropes. A smaller ring is suited for a lunger and the power type of fighter Pascal is.

actually it gave jean a lot of room to run around in. which is probably why he throws 20 punches a round.

Pascal would have been killed in a smaller ring. So good call by his team.

The only guy I would ever think would benefit from a bigger ring against Hopkins would probably be Dawson, other than him you are ****ing stupid to try it.

Perhaps you are more suited to following x factor than boxing?

Did you even watch the fight? The bigger ring benefited the circling Pascal.

Yes benefitied him in losing and doing nothing while moving around.
You want the stronger younger fighter not known for boxing skills in a small ring. Pascal beat Dawson by turning it into a brawl not by boxing. Pascal got outboxed by Hopkins. The way Hopkins slowed him down was the rangey body shots from walking him down.

"Most people don't know **** about boxing."

    Word, Uncle Roger.

Let's help you not be stupid here:

Pascal beat Dawson by refusing to engage except on his own terms. You know what this means? Circling, running, backing away, and picking your spots to lunge in with power shots. He knew Dawson wasn't aggressive enough to chase him down.

The Dawson fight was not a brawl.

A small ring creates sustained action. You want this if you're in great shape and expect your opponent to run from you. You want a big ring if you plan to conserve energy and pick your spots to engage. If you expect to spend a lot of time on the back foot, you want space (or you end up getting trapped on the ropes).
