I am a relative newcomer to boxing, but I have seen a lot of these two guys, and they are both 2 of my favourite fighters. My own view was that DLH went up a weight category too high and was always going to lose that fight as he was up against a naturally bigger and stronger guy much more accustomed to fighting at that weight and who DHL did not have the power to hurt. However, I have recently heard that some people think DLH threw the fight for some reason, or that he faked being hurt by the bodyshot that ended the fight, or some other sinster factors were at work. What are the rumours and is there any truth to them?? Any other weird/wonderful insider boxing conspiracies or underground beliefs??
The people believing that DLH took a dive (which still makes ZERO sense money and legacy wise) have never taken a well placed body shot, that you never see coming, themselves...plain and simple.
Liver shot. Feels like your insides are going to explode. Every poster who says DLH took a dive and is a ***** should visit Hopkins and tell him that punch was nothing.
It was a decent fight and Oscar was actually doing well until that shot. Oscar actually looked better and fought better then when he fought Sturm. To get hit there and for him to actually try to fight the pain and stand-up was incredible. He faked it for what? There are just alot of Oscar haters that is all.
The Oscar fanboys in the crowd cheered every single time he threw a combination when in fact all of them hit AIR! Once Hopkins turned up the pressure a bit it was over.
I have to watch it again, but Oscar is known to hit the air alot. He still looked much better than the Sturm fight. Again, to take a shot there and have another fight trying to get up is incredible.
Everything you need to know is on the video. Look at DLH's face. He knows he is going to lose and that became a self fulfilling prophecy. When a man is expecting doom, anything that happens feels like damnation. That is why he went down from the hit and couldn't get up. Boxing is 90% mental, 10% physical. Mentally he wasn't in the fight to win.
He really wasn't loosing that fight that bad. The tide turned against him, yes, but he was still in the fight, landed a big left hook right before the body shot. I agree, he would have lost anyway unless he pulled some Leonard **** out of his ass but Oscar was overwhelmed but not really hurt once Bhop put the pressure on about a round before. He got zapped by a one punch knockout, that simple.
