It looked fishy, but I can't think of any reason why he would have taken a dive

    What happenned?

He held his own in a somewhat even fight, began losing, and was dropped by a body punch.

Floyd - Started his career at 130, probably at his best around 147
Oscar - Started his career at 130, probably at his best around 147

Hopkins - Started his career at 175, at his best at 160.

Who gives a crap where they started......you look at there physical size, both of lenghth and mass, and by far there was a bigger disparity in DLH-Mayweather than DLH-Hopkins.

......and please Drexl, you're a better poster than that, DLH severely dehydrated his body to fight for a bogus title against a bogus champion at 130 lbs......weight wise when he turned pro, DLH was a lightweight (135 lbs)
......and if we went back to the old days where you weighed in the same day, DLH never would have fought as a lightweight.
.....probably would have started his career at 140 lbs, and struggled to make that weight.
Mayweather Jr. would have made weight easily at the start of his pro career at 130 lbs, in any era.

By far, DLH is the bigger fighter!

Oscar was KO'd by a tremendous hook to the liver. If youve ever boxed and taken a shot like that you'll know it paralyses you the pain is tremendous. That was a clear KO

Then you must have not seen the fight, because DLH was far from being paralyzed from the shot, in fact he was sprawling all over the canvas as if he was having a hissy fit siezure.

.....in comparison to a more recent fight that alot of people will remember......the shot that stopped JL Castillo against Ricky Hatton....that shot was truly paralyzing and more indicative of how most fighters react to a shot of that type.
Castillo went down to his knees, tried to ride the pain, but PARALYZED in the pain, could'nt make a move to get up.

DLH's body language during his outpour of pain, was'nt indicative of how most fighters react to a shot like that.

The day after the Hopkins-DLH fight, alot of people on this board were speculating, "what the heck happened, did DLH take a dive?"
The way DLH reacted to the punch was at the very least suspicious!

.....but like I said, my guess is that it was'nt your classic fix, but a case of Hopkins landing a decent shot, but not one that a fighter of DLH's caliber could'nt recover from.....then DLH deciding right then and there that he was'nt going to go through getting beatdown in front of millions of viewers.

Which reminds me of something Ray Leonard once said, he said, "when up against a great fighter, there is a point in the fight where you're going to hurt. What seperates the men from the boys and lifts the true greats to another level is how you react at that point. Do you give in, or do you suck it up and drive yourself to another level. There is something that great fighters reach out to....that extra, that umphhh (Leonard curling up both arms and squeezing both fists as he said umphhh)....."

Against quite a few, DLH has just tanked it!:deal

So you're saying Delahoya should never have been allowed to fight at lightweight ?

I think B-Hop carried Oscar in the fight and then put the preessue on Oscar. Oscar knew it was going to be over soon and took a dive.

legit bodyshot...and stop the mental unpreparedness...he got beat!
he probably thought he can take on a much bigger opponent like BHOP.
    no reason to dive here...

Yes, DLH is naturally bigger than Floyd.

But the gap in natural weight is not as much as Hopkins to DLH, and that was the point you were trying to make.

Mayweather has never drained himself to make any weight, and certainly has'nt gained massive amounts of weight back after an official weigh-in.

DLH was always 10 to 15 lbs heavier at fight time than he had been at the official weigh-in.

DLH looked huge in comparison to Mayweather when they fought.
....yet Hopkins did'nt look that much bigger if any when he fought DLH.

Mayweather actually bulked up to make 150 lbs, and actually may have been lighter than that fight time.
I'd venture to guess that DLH coming in at 154 lbs, was well above the middleweight limit at fight time.

I'd say the disparity in weight fightime was somewhere close to 15 lbs for DLH-Mayweather.
I'm certain that the disparity in weight fightime for DLH-Hopkins was nowhere near that range.

He got hit with a good bodyshot. He couldn't stand the pain, thats what Floyd really means when he says "Oscar is a quitter"
