What relevance does it have that Pov's PED was not banned in 2015?

With respect, not even the company that manufactures Meldonium knows how long it lingers in trace amounts in the body. "Months" is their best guess. 70ng is a vanishingly small amount, well under the prescribed limit.

 

Honestly, I'd say a double espresso would do a HELL of a lot more for you than 70ng of meldonium

They knew it was on the banned substance list as of January 2016. They also knew they were taking it back in 2015. So the most pragmatic thing to do is to have him get tested by an independent laboratory, a couple times if need be, to ensure it was out of his system.

He shouldn't just roll the dice and "assume" it's completely out of his body without doing some simple lab work to corroborate that it's out of his system. This is the least he should've done to avoid being wrapped up in a potential scandal (as he is now.) He's at fault and I'm sure him and his team know this.

 

Under what criteria exactly is a test deemed to fail? There was a legal limit allowed for the drug for the time period the test took place and he tested well within that limit.

What is the official word from VADA on whether or not he passed or failed this test? Until VADA confirms he failed I'm going by the known criteria and based on that Povektin has not failed a drug test.

 

Actually, meldonium was banned as of October 1,2015 but the athletes were informed that testing for it wouldn't commence until January of 2016.

 

If meldonium has no ped like effects why are so many people being caught for it? Are they taking it for no reason?

 

That may be the case. My thought first going into this, considering the circumstances of the drugs recent ban, was that Povektin should be allowed time to have the evidence reviewed and sorted before people started to make judgement. Despite my frustration for the fight being called off, and my prediction of Wilders much needed TKO against credible opposition, I had doubts Povektin had used the drug after the fact. After all, if you're going to cheat why do it with Meldonium? However, after a few weeks to reflect it's safe to say that the chances he took it after it was banned and a masking agent was used is highly likely.

I just wish more people approached these subjects with more objectivity before making a judgement.

 

The "tiny amount" excuse doesn't fly anymore. I truly believe that he is taking other stuff along with the Meldonium. He' never beaten an A level fighter. He' beaten B level guys and when he stepped up to fight an A level fighter he got toyed with. I'm not surprised he got caught, and I'm not surprised that his fans reacted the way they did. He's a true scumbag of the sport. Him and Margarito.

 

If people acually read up on what the drug does then you can come to a conclusion that it's definetly performance enchancing. I mean first of all it's fairly obvious but for some reason does peopel think anti-doping angencies test if you have vitamin defeciency.
