What round, if at all, will Calzaghe stop Hopkins in?

I love how a lot of people always have to bring up the Tito and Tarver fights like they are comparable to a fight against Calzaghe. I'll take the avatar bet. If you're so sure it's impossible for Hopkins to get knocked out, howabout if Hopkins lasts 12 rounds I'll wear any avatar for 2 weeks and if he gets stopped or DQ'ed you wear any avatar for 1 month?

Thats fine, no gay avatars though, the avatar has to be boxing related.

Alright, but can this picture be of a former world champion who has a passion for dressing in women's clothing?

:rofl I guess, it cant be any worse than the one Relentless was sporting a few months back. If I win, I will give you the choice of sporting a Sam Peter avatar or one of many pics I have stored of Wlad on the canvas.:yep

Round five or earlier, eh? I'd be very surprised if Hopkins doesn't last at least 7...

Well, then you're being very nice because I would love to have an avatar of Klitschko down on the canvas.

I was joking, a TKO anywhere from the 7-12 rounds is highly possible. A TKO before the 7th would be a surprise, but it wouldn't be shocking considering how shot I believe Hopkins is. If an early-mid round stoppage actually happened though, you can be sure very little boixng fans will give Calzaghe a lot of credit and will just say Hopkins was completely shot.

Even if he is extremely shot, he has the smarts and ambition to last at least 6 full rounds against Calzaghe...

Probably, but he looked very bad against Winky a year ago and Taylor stunned him a few years before that. I think Hopkins will be in the worst physical shape of his life for this fight and Calzaghe will be insanely motivated not to just win, but to destroy him.

A fast swarmer with good defense and in and out movement is a nightmare for the current Hopkins.

Who do you think Joe will fight after he beats Hopkins?

But to the boxing media, it's a "superfight" and it will be Calzaghe's biggest win of his career by far. Also, a KO win over Pavlik would mean more than a close, but clear win over Kessler or Dawson. Everything's messed up. :-(

Being underestimated has been the story of Hopkins' life. And i think it's because when you think about it, nothing stands out about him physically. He's not powerful, nor fleet of foot, nor does he have great hand speed. He just gets it done with his brain.

That's why when anytime someone mentions, " What if Hopkins fought XXXXX", Hopkins always seems to get little respect. These people then go into a breakdown of their physical tools and conclude that Hopkins would most likely lose. What they fail to account for is maybe the most important aspect which is ring savvy and intelligence. Just knowing what you are doing every second you are in the ring and knowing how to set guys up and avoid punches.

Agreed, to be honest, I cant think of a active boxer with the generalship Hopkins has. Hopkins rough house tactics are also top of the line, and really only rivals Holyfields, as far as current boxers are concerned. I think Hopkins will lose, but it will hardly be a shotout, I see him losing 116-112, for a guy Hopkins age, that would be a pretty effort IMO.
