When I see a thread like this It's hard to take it seriously, so here I go.. I would say he actually has a great chin at 147. His chin issues were only highly resonant at 140 where he was draining himself to make weight. Losing waterweight isn't universally a great way to make weight for fights. Some people it affects more drastically than others. Also, Power is in Cottos favour. KO percentage says it all in itself. Much higher and against top opposition. SO my final conclusion to a thread like this Oprah Winfrey TKO 7 by horrible monthly book club review.
If anybody is winning by Knockout than it will be Antonio Margarito. Cotto has the better KO percentage, but Margarito has a ridicliously good chin, evidenced by his second showdown against Cintron. He ate so many flush right hands and didn't even look phased, and this against a man with like 28 knockouts in 31 fights (something similar). The smart money goes on Miguel Cotto outboxing Antonio over a 12 round decision. Margarito has better reach and a better chin, but Cotto has faster hands and has fought the better opposition. How would Miguel Cotto have reacted to being hit flush by Cintron? :-(
i never saw cotto's legs buckle. if you saw it, give me a time in the round, and ill go back to the video and look.
Round never! I respect Margarito and have always enjoyed watching him fight but I can't see him scoring a KO much less winning against the superior boxer in Cotto. Cotto obviously is a much different fighter than Paul Williams ( the last man to defeat Tony) so a comparison between to 2 wouldn't be fare. I would however compare Cotto to Joshua Clottey who dominated the first 4 round of his matchup with Tony before hurting his hand. Like Clottey, Cotto's money punch is his left hook. I fully expect Cotto to use that punch along with his superior defence to fustrate Margarito all night long and win a tough 12 round UD.
i didnt admit anything. i went back, watched the tape. at 1:46, cotto backs into the ropes, gomez throws a jab and a right hand, both miss. cotto's knees didnt buckle at all. 2 seconds later, he lands a right hand the the body that makes gomez back off. im done with you. i know what i saw and its clear youre ****ing blind. have a nice day
Cotto wins this...he wins this easily...and he likely wins this inside the distance. By the time Margo starts to accelerate, considerable damage will have been done, and the snap on his punches will have been drained by Cotto's bodywork. Margo goes down swinging. But he goes down...Round 8.
