You don't see a way Kovalev would win this? Lmfao, some people on here.... Even the most loyal Ward fanboys will tell you this is a very risky fight for him.

 

And do you not realize that Kovalev is the bigger man who in all likelihood is stronger than Ward (which is important for in-fighting).

Also, people in this thread (not you specifically, Smoak, generally) trying to make this into a simple boxer-brawler match up are GROSSLY oversimplifying it, this is an elite boxer vs also a good boxer but who has other attributes to make up for the difference in skill.

 

You guys forget about Ward's secret weapon. If Kovalev does somehow connect a big punch, Ward will instantly turn into an Irish Billy Goat and batter him from pillar to post.

 

Ward is nothing like Hopkins and Pascal. For one, he's two decades younger than Hopkins. As for Pascal, he resembles him not even a little bit. Not even remotely.

It's irrefutable that Kovalev is slow, and he's a turtle compared to someone as quick as Ward. And he's not versatile at all, and when he steps into the ring and sees Ward actually in the flesh and in his rhythm he won't have the brain or the ability to adapt.
