And the level of competition > Douglas. Lots of pedigreed up and comers like Holyfield/Lewis/Bowe and others. When Mike was on his run, they're was a lull in the pedigreed up and comers and about the only guy was Biggs and lots of folks were not buying into him. He was feasting on the old and tired guys and it's a different ballgame taking on the youthful up and comers and to continue winning.
there is way more to tyson than those poll options. the roots of his downfall can probably be seen as far back his childhood. man has seen/done/had done to him some ****ed up ****. (don't know if anyone has posted this but i didnt want to read through all 5 pages once i saw only 2 poll options)
Tysons carrer was ended by The man in the purple trunks, a true warrior in boxing, former undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world, former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and the only man on this planet to win the hw title four different times, ladys and gentleman here at the mgm grand, please welcome... Evander, "The reeeeaaaal deeeeallll", Hooooooooooolyfield :happy
since loosing to Holyfield, Tyson was still very good. After the first loss to Holy, Tysons carrer went from nowhere to newhere.
if you list them in order it would be like this: cus'd death > that filthy ***** > firing rooney > too much ***** in tokyo > prison.
Cus D'amato's death Robin Givins Don King Drugs The results being the loss to Buster Douglas and going to prison.
The 2nd part of that is delusional crap. He wouldnt have survived in the Holyfield,Bowe,Foreman,Lewis era that existed whilst he was inside. At least 3 of them would have stopped Tyson of that time. Holyfield certainly. The others probably.
can't stand seeing people list the gossip collumn headlines as reason for his falures in the ring. i see one of ya'll got it close, saying his level of competition rose. tyson had the physical reach dissadvantage against all those who beat him. there are tactics tyson may have been able to use to compensate. wether tyson had the capacity/capabillity to execute the tactics of a superior style will forever remain unanswererd. my point, - it's worth comparing your gossip collumn dirt to spilled milk. mike needed a style upgrade to one he didn't have. and one that don't grow on trees (ie. he wasn't gonna learn it from kevin roony) how many champs has roony produced? don't blame losing cus. cus gave em all he could have. taught him the inferior peekaboo defense. didn't think mike needed anymore defensive tactics for all the powerfull offense he brought to the table. cus was wrong. mike needed something he was never gonna get without a real life fairy godmother or something like.
mike needed an individual who could istruct him and impart ways of the marciano style of fighting. look at tape of rocky and you will see he presented a technique against taller opposition which allowed him to get and stand in close range to hit with force. while the result of his style ended up that rocky was able to gain offensive positioning and often score the knock outs which we remember, executing the style was a 99.9 percent practice in deploying deffensive tactics. i'm not saying it's the only style that would have improved tyson. but it's one and probably the best. what trainer teaches it? well, that's why i said he needed a fairy godmother to help him out with that one.
