What Rule Changes Would You Like To See Implemented In Boxing?

Couldnt do that. Then the boxer's would know where they stand in the later rounds. Best case you would end up with them running when they know they have won enough rounds. Worst case you would have them wanting to end fights over cuts cause they know who's winning.

 

I've never been a fan of public scorecards, for every positive scenario you can put forward to support it theres a negative one.

I came up with this in one of the countless Diaz/Paulie threads.

Have an international body of judges and referees. Any promoter who wants to have a sanctioned fight must only use this body. This would need to be a federal mandate in every boxing country.

The promoter has no say in who the judges and referee will be. In fact, they wont even know until the night of the fight.

Once the fight is finished, the performances of the ref and the judges would undergo peer review. The reviewing judges would be anonymous and could be from any country. The result of the fight is not official until the review is complete.

I imagine the review goes like this: 5-6 judges watch a replay of the match and score the fight. The average of their scores is seen to be the most correct score.

Judges or referees who fail peer review tests are then put on notice. If they **** up, they lose their license and have to repay their fees.

I think you definitely shouldn't have hometown refs or judges. You should have to have neutral ones. I mean it happens in all other sports that i know of, soccer, rugby ect.

For example, fights including a fighter from Texas, Canada, Germany, should not be allowed to have judges or referee's from those locations. I don't understand how this can keep happening.

 

Good idea, well thought out. Thats the problem with boxing though, no one organisation, no accountability.

I think championsip/tittle fights should still be sechuled for 12 rounds but have 3 extra rounds in the event of a draw after 12. Scores should be submeited after each round and a running score shale be kept but not reviled intel after the 12 rounds to insure there is no delay to start the first extra round.

 

Officially, judges are meant to hand in their scores after each round anyway so I don't think showing the scores would lessen any perceived corruption. It wouldn't stop judges who have been "influenced" in other ways giving biased scores and doesn't account for incompetency which, I feel, is the main source of poor scoring in boxing.

I would like to see the alphabets banned from boxing. It wouldn't actually be that difficult but would require cooperation from the boxing bodies around the world.
