I'm not going to litigate the past. Your comments on that thread speak for themself. Anyone who wants to read them knows where they are.

And no l don't think the Barkley that Duran beat would have lost to Mayweather.

The elephant in the room is that you're comparing guys who stepped up to world level early and then had one or two layoffs for various reasons with Marciano who churned out lots of wins over bums before winning a title.

    Great observation. :good

Floyd has been undefeated through THREE DECADES. It's an amazing feat, but when you see that he's had a year out completely, and then possibly more through not fighting at all, 49 fights in 20-21 years isn't a lot really!

I've always loved watching him box, he's an "artistic" boxer to watch. Yeah he had some bore-snores, but overall I enjoy watching him in the ring.

After the Corrales fight, I viewed him as a future ATG.

I try not to pay attention to his incredibly annoying personality. Hell, many of my favorite fighters did awful things. I had issues though with his inactivity and opposition from 2008-on. He was the big star who could get any fight he wanted, so of course it was frustrating to see such a brilliant boxer be so inactive, and fight the likes of Guerrero and Ortiz. I think the fact that I gave a young titlist like Ortiz no chance in hell against a 34 year old Mayweather says something about both the abilities of Floyd, and the current talent pool (which I think has gotten better over the last couple years).

No, I compared Mayweather's activity unfavorably with two heavyweight Champions.

Sorry, the facts hurt your feelings.

Sorry about your feelings, bro. I'm a little flattered that you borrowed that phrase from me.

Regardless of where you rate Floyd he was unique in many respects.

His longevity and the fact that he was undefeated over an extremely long period of time is very impressive and his skills are undeniable.

Do I wish he was a more exciting fighter and fought more often, and was in a few wars to see how he would do when his back was up against a wall and he had to fight his way out of it, yes I do, but that doesn't distract from his accomplishments.

And while one can't really blame him for not getting into wars, at the same time, I do think his relative inactivity and his lack of excitement and his lack of a win over a prime elite fighter do hurt his standings in the rarified top echelon of fighters.

If he has got any brains at all, Mayweather should get on his knees and thank De LaHoya everyday of his life. Due to that fight his earnings went through the roof, and continued to increase exponentially after it. Hence he had 37 fights before that in 10 and a half years and only 11 fights during the following 8 and a half years.

Deserves credit for that, his consistency is impressive. Not sure we've never seen it before though.
