Hardcore gets excited for even Thursday night fights.

Casual only gets drawn in during hype up PPV's.

When throughout the year, you express your interest in certain upcoming fights and you get a blank stare in response.

When u go out of your way to watch the sport

Also if u can sort the the alphabet soup mumbo jumbo and understand who the real champ is that goes along way to making you more then a casual fan

A hardcore fan not only goes to the fights -- amateur 'n pro -- but watches as many fights as he can on TV, 'n maybe works-out 'n watches sparring at local gyms.

When you tell someone that your favorite sport is Boxing, days prior to Ward vs Dawson, Lopez vs Alvarez and Martinez vs Chavez Jr or any excellent Boxing Eevent up-coming....They proceed to ask you "why is Floyd scared of Pacquiao".:patsch That is the definition of a "CASUAL FAN".

Even as a hardcore fan it's not hard to tell that Floyd is scared of Pac. Look at his ****ing most recent offer ffs, 100% PPV or no fight.

I always used to tell my son that if a so called boxing fan didn't know the names of the three Mexican musketeers(Morales, Barrera, Marquez) he's not a boxing fan.

Hard core fans...live and breathe the sweet science! they become students of multiple eras and appreciate and respect the heart of all of the competitiors.

serious fans...are probably aquainted with all of the major boxers much as a serious NFL/MLB/NBA etc. fan is. Watches it as much as they can and look to get into discussions whenever they can

high-end casual fan.....probably only knows a few of the major players, and lables everyone else a journeyman or tomatoe can. they have no real respect for boxers in general outside of their fanboys. look to start stupid arguments, but have no real depth of knowledge to bring to the table.

low end casual fan...likley knows a couple of mainstream boxers like DLH/Pac...maybe Floyd...Might go to a friends house or the bar to catch an occasional big fight....probably has no idea who Chris John or other equivalants are.

Sport fan in general...probably recognize certain names like Ali-Tyson-SRR/SRL etc are....Probably has no clue who Barerra/Morales are.

i'll keep it simple, casual fans do not follow the sport closely, don't know ****, and often call fighters competing today, or mike tyson, the greatest fighters ever. they dont know anything.

hardcore fans know what they're talking about, and even if they have unpopular opinions, they can at least draw upon a great body of knowledge to support them.
