For me,it's about appreciating more than just power punches and knockouts.I remember at school, roughly the day after Watson-Benn,and I had been thrilled by the defensive intracacies of Watson's performance, but when I tried to discuss it,no one seemed to know what I was talking about, and all they went on about was the end.
I had the same problem trying to discuss prime-Tyson's defence, and someone who thought they were a real smart-ass said to much laughter,"Defence? He's a boxer not a centre-half!"
I've had many similar experiences since, especially when we all used to get together for the big PPV's.I think my friends found my ability to make a point right before the commentator did a bit tiresome and my in depth analysis was a bit too much.
    Who gives a ****! I'm a ha'co mofo!

A hardcore fan is a guy who gets up in the morning, and reads/posts on ESB or Budweiser forums before he even checks his email.

Casual fans think that Manny Pacman Pacquiao would beat Floyd Mayweather, they also think are only impressed by the likes of Mike Tyson and people capable of knocking out 8 out of every 10 opponents they face within 4 rounds. They don't appreciate skill and ring generalship or the ability to outpoint the man they have met over 12 rounds.

Even though it's true they're making more than enough fighting other guys, imagine what would happen to the winner of this fight and the numbers he would make fighting whoever after it?

I do agree though that it's still a huge risk both fighters don't need to take as long as they have options out there.

Sadly that could also mean poor management. Every fighter has to take risks early in his career but when he's fully established and has the option to make millions fighting no-hopers, why would his manager force him to a risky fight?
