What short (under 5'9") WWs would you favor over Hearns?

On top of this Weston was 10 fights prior to a still learning Hearn's even fighting for the title and Harold came in 2 1/2 pounds over even with a day before weigh in after Steward made allowances. Sport Illustrated - "The outcome of the fight wasn't in doubt". Steward had actually told Hearns to slow down those last two rounds as the altitude and heat were affecting him and easing back for a bit was beneficial. Was Hearns as impressive as he wanted to be? No. Was he effective and was it a great learning fight as hoped for? Absolutely. Harold was an extremely good fighter.

Harold was a very good welter and his eye was damaged , I believe a detached retina as it retired him while he was still very good. I haven’t seen the fight in years but remember it as being a fight that exposed some early chinks in Hearns armor …. To what degree I’d have to rewatch as it was some forty plus years ago.

"it was stopped"? Weston retired on his stool. How are we supposed to "consider what might've happened over 12 scheduled rounds" when 1 fighter is simply unwilling/unable to go past 6?

It was a somewhat reckless/sloppy performance from a still developing hearns - he forced a (too) fast pace over 4 rnds, then got up on his toes & boxed over the last 2. On 1 hand, the fight underscored how raw he still was @the time, but it also gave an early indicator of his versatility & adaptability.

When he won the title and for the first 7 defenses it Armstrong weighed within the 135 Lightweight limit....every time. He was actually dealing with lightweight title fights in between. During later defenses he was heavier but still often just under or just over 140 pounds.

So in reality he was still comfortably making 135 for much of his successful time at Welterweight. As great as he was i can't see a 5'5 1/2" tall Armstrong, sporting a 67" reach and for all intents and purposes a lightweight having much hope at all personally. It's far too much to overcome in my opinion. He would lack the size, strength and power to impose himself.

Harry Greb, Mickey Walker, Sam Langford...there are few I will because Hearns questionable chin and durability.
