Maybe its because he had to painstakingly work his way up through the rankings and doesn't respect fighters who don't put in the same ammount of work, but Pavlik unlike Abraham(Ayala) and Sturm(Pittman) seems only to consider highly ranked fighters ( Duddy, Rubio, Lockett, Lorenzo, Wright, Griffin, Abraham, Sturm ).

If Vera waits for Pavlik, he may be inactive for a very long time.

Vera has nothing to gain. He was losing, it was a poor stoppage and he had been down remember the fight ended on a hard punch to Vera's face!

I am a big Lee fan but I gained alot of respect for Vera in that fight and Lee would be determined to hurt him.

Vera is still not a commodity, nor a very good fighter. He'd likely get beat by the next decent fighter he faces, and for less money than he'll recieve for the Lee rematch -a fight that he and his team are confident they'll repeat with another victory. He took Lee's best punches and drew him into his fight. He's naturally the bigger man, and was able to absorb Lee's punches and wear him down, that won't change by July 25, Lee's only chance is to wise up and box.

    There will be no rematch:

"There will not be a Brian Vera-Andy Lee II. Vera’s promoter, Jeff Wald of the television “Contender” group, told ESPN.com: “Not a chance on God’s earth… No reason to. Lee doesn’t mean anything. There is no upside to a rematch. There are better fights out there for Brian. There are more meaningful opponents. I’m very proud of what Brian did because nobody gave him a chance. Why should we do a rematch? What for? There’s better money elsewhere
