No - he should relinquish this task to Gamboa (note: Gamboa is already at no.3 in the current WBA rankings and it looks like that Perez will lose his privilege as being the current mandatory). So Gamboa could possibly be the WBA SFW champion by the end of the year...
I think Pac is chasing some history in his 135 adventure. But I feel eventually, he will still fight JMM at 135 probably; since a 3rd JMM fight is still a money fight, however difficult it is for him. As for Guzman, it might be a case, but he is still a champion, and I would love to see Guzzy fights a skilled fighter in JMM. Casa and Campbell are good choices, and either of the two will be a great fight. Actually, JMM can choose his fights. He has earned it.
I honestly don't think we will ever see JMM/PAC 3 unless PAC loses to DIaz(don't see that happening). After Diaz, Arum will try to make Hatton/Pac(more money, more history), by then JMM will be about a year older and with another possible L on his ledger which might diminish interest in the fight.
Dunno but I guess it can still happen. Even if it would be Pac's last fight, it will still sell to the boxing fans. Anyway, I hope JMM makes up his mind now and fight at 135 or even the champs at 130 (Guzman and VAlero); I am not interested to see him fight another obscure fighters.
Campbell's too risky! He is a solid 135 pounder. And is really on his game right now. Look what happened to Morales against Rahim. Casa's fading fast, He would be the much better choice.
Agree. Casmayor/JMM is the fight GBP should be working on, and if everything went as planned JMM, PAC and Campbell would all be beltholders at 135 by the end of the year! Making this a very hot division!
i don't think jmm will risk fighting a very tough opponent like guzman, casa or campbell. he is still hoping to land a 3rd big money fight w/ pac. he knows that a possible loss in his next fight will virtually wipe out any chance of a 3rd fight from ever happening. that's why there are reports of him fighting barrera again. :-( if not, there is always fana  jmm can also take the rest of the year off and just hope that pac gets interested next year if golden boy gives pac an offer he can't refuse. the biggest fight out there money and legacy-wise for jmm is still pac and he surely knows this. that's why he will never take a fight that will possibly jeopardize this.
Man GTF out of here with that hate, this thread was doing fine until now. Leave your obsession off JMM at home.
it's definitely not hate. i just think that whatever jmm and his team are now planning for his next couple of fights, they still have their eyes trained on an eventual 3rd fight w/ pac down the line. that's still the biggest fight out there for jmm.
JMM, like any other boxer, should not expect to get the nod against his opponent unless he beats him convincingly, something which he has never been able to do against Pac. And although JMM is a great fighter himself, its obvious that he is not good enough to beat Pacquiao convincingly. Its stupid to just keep rematching Pacquiao hoping that after a whie the judges will give you the nod in a close fight. There is plenty of competition for JMM at Jr. Lightweight and Lightweight, including Guzman, Juan Diaz, Joel Casamayor, Nate Cambell, Amir Khan, Peterson, Valero, Soto, etc. His legacy should not and does not depend solely on Pacquiao.
JMM knows that, Pac knows that, every boxing fan knows that. JMM thinks he won the last fight(as did the majority of viewers) and thought there should have been an immediate rematch(as did the majority of boxing fans), So he goes over to the Phillipines to ask Pac for the rematch on what was basically a promotional tool used to sell that boxing card and some of you still can't get over it. JMM knows that PAC wants nothing to do with him right now and is moving on, so should some of you:deal
And vice verse, Pac will always have the comfort of knowing the judges scored the fights in his favor, but he will also know that most feel that he failed to beat JMM convincingly! Funny how it's basically the harcore Pac fans who want nothing to do with JMM:think
