I think he shoulda stayed and defended his belt a couple of times...but if he wants to retire I can't blame him!

JC never won a legit title at 175 and that's a fact. The record will show that he was a champ at SMW and stepped up to 175 to beat BHOP for a magazine title which regardless of how much respect you have for The Ring ranking it is not a sanctioning body.

Explain what's so amazingly good about a 'sanctioning body'? Does the legitimacy come from managing to have three different champions at the same weight or from allowing promoters to buy or barter their fighters into title fights?

I am not trying to imply that the sanctioning bodies in boxing will inherently have a better ranking system than The Ring magazine but sanctioning bodies have a different function, mandate and agenda that gives their titles more legitimacy.

Whats to stop other magazines from claiming their ranking system and DIY word title belts are any less significant than The Ring. Basically The Ring rankings are guide for fans and bring a little bit of order to our fragmented system.

Erdei is lineal at 175:smoke I would go after him and his IBF title. I hate Erdei for padding his record and I just want to see him get KTFO.

Erdei is only lineal if you consider that a linear vacancy can be filled without the WBC title being involved.

Which is a bit strange as then you are doing the exact same thing personally as The Ring magazine does (picking your 'best two' fighters in the division and calling the winner 'champion' when they fight) and which you said did not have legitimacy.

Erdei shouldn't be considered lineal champion. But if The Ring had not stopped awarding titles for a period, he would be Ring Magazine champion.

He should try and get Sven Ottke out of retirment and make a catch weight fight(it would be great at any weight),what a fight it would be 2 masters of the 12 round bore going at it.I predict a draw.
