I would put Povetkin with Chris Arreola. Arreola would bring fireworks & is way bigger than Povetkin. Arreola could pull it off.
Isn't Povetkin's last fight an eliminator to determine who will challenge Wlad? Then Povetkin is the guy. Let them fight. Anyway, I don't see him winning against Wlad anytime in the near future. So no need to prolong the agony and the inevitable.
He's just become the #1 IBF contender, unless there's time for a quick filler fight then it has to be Wlad. He'd really look bad if he obviously tried to avoid Wladimir now.
To me he is about 4 or 5 fights away from fighting Klitschko. He's been vastly overrated in this board because of his amatuer backround, yet people don't realize their is a difference between amatuers and pros, and his fight with Chambers proved that. He's already 28 and still an inexperienced fighter, thats bad news. He needs about 3 more fights against solid contenders than fight Alexander Dimitrenko to determine who's the future of this division.
could u blame him!...if eddie chambers can make u look like a raccoon wlad would decapitate him. He's just too easy to hit right now. Only Chambers was the first one to make him pay for it. Unless he adds rabbit punches to his arsenal and gets Randy Newman as the ref, he's in for a world of hurt :yep
I know your referring to the Peter/Wlad fight, but we went over this a million times already, Peter was clinched over 90 times in that fight and which prevented Peter from really landed solid blows after he hurt Wlad, if anything both men have a ***** IMO. In the end Wlad won a hard fought fight, that had it's moments where it looked like Wlad was on the verge of mentally collapsing again, this time he was able to get through the panic attack.:yep
Wait and see who wins Wlad vs. Iggy of course. There is no guarantee that Wlad will win that. If Wlad wins that one, and struggles, watch how the fans will give more of a chance to Povetkin. If Wlad wins very convincingly, watch how the odds will go up ridiculously for Wlad in Wlad vs. Povetkin. I think its a pretty safe bet though to think that Povetkin will fight at least once more in between a fight with Wlad. If Wlad wants to unify another belt and a fight can be made, it might take a long time for Wlad vs. Povetkin. I think Povetkin should fight a larger, slower, easier to hit but more powerful hitter in the meantime. Donald, Byrd, Chambers, he has done enough fighting these defensive types. Povetkin could use a convincing KO win after fighting defensive styled opponents for the last seven months.
Realistically, he should definitely get some more fights under his belt(maybe against fringe contenders) before fighting Wlad. But, backing out of that fight now would be stupid. Besides, let's be realistic here, he's never going to beat Wlad. So, I guess it doesn't matter much.
I like all this talk about Povetkin standing absolutely no chance against Wlad. I hope it continues until fight time and the odds are like, 10 to 1, in favor of Wlad, so I can put down some cash on Povetkin and laugh my ass off.
no one is invincible but fighters can improve after losing. why is it so hard for people to grasp that? watch his footwork then and now and u tell me if he is the same fighter. he's not
It would be in the best interest of Povetkin to take on a few more top 10 fighters before fighting for a belt.
I would like to see him fight a few more HW's before facing Wlad, maybe also pick up a title before he fights him. Chagaev wouldn't be a very difficult win for him, but I think he's already locked up with the winner of Lyakhovich/Valuev. A fight with Dimitrenko would be great, but Dimitrenko would never even think about fighting him. The more fights he has before Wlad, the easier beating him will be and the bigger the Povetkin-Klitschko matchup becomes.
