I don't think this guy is ready for Klitschko yet but he has looked great so far in his career and been very impressive. To move this guy as fast as they have has shown a lot of balls. Now even though he is the mandatory for Klitschko's IBF belt, what should he do next? Wait around until Klitschko has to fight him? This could mean more than a year layoff. Fight a tune up fight? Or take on somebody else big to move up in the rankings of other organizations?
A tune-up against a big name. For 2 reasons: 1. If he's gonna fight Wlad, he's gonna need every bit of experience he can get. Julius Long won't prepare him for a Wlad fight. 2. He is likely to lose to Wlad at this point, so having a few signature wins will make him at least retain his marketability as well as a better chance of getting an other title shot in the future.
yeah that will be both a fun fight to watch, and a useful fight to see who really deserves their shot at wladimir. povetkin or haye? would be a barnburner i think
lol i got massacared for starting a thread a while ago about a Haye vs Povetkin fight in the summer!!!!!! and now look, people are saying take a big fight or i'd like to see him in with haye. ****s me right off that none of these people were commenting on my thread even tho i gave reason! http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62295
He should be doing lots of work on developing his defensive skills and test them against a good name on Wlad's undercard.
He shold fight someone over 6'3" and fairly experienced not really someone young he won't learn anything. Jamaal McCline,Andrew Golotta. Oh ! Golotta is supposed to fight Peter isn't he. Rachman would be a good test. How about Roman Greenberg he is fast and needs an opponent for his next fight. He is young and Greenberg needs tostep up.
Povetkin knows exacly how good Klitschko is. He will know how good he himself is too. I trust him to do the right thing by himself. I expect he'll take a tune up before WK, though. I think he'd benefit from it.
Why should he? Sam Peter couldnt hold a candle to Povetkin at the amateurs. He even lost to Vidoz who kicked his ass beating him at the last olympic tournament handing him back his ticket to his native Nigeria. Vidoz was totally out of his shoes when he fought Povetkin at the amateurs. Anyway! Peter was a nobody at the amateurs, and Povetkin one of the most dominant trophy hunters and medal collectors of all times. Peter would be the huge underdog against Povetkin.Thats for sure!
LIKE I TOLD YOU IN OTHER THREADS..........STOP WITH THE AMATERURS CRAP ALREADY........................ THIS IS THE PROSatschatschatsch
Stay active and try to stay in the mainstream as much as possible so he doesn't get his name forgotten by some of the casual boxing fans.. A fight in the US would help too..
