Diaz is a very exciting fighter who put on a very good performance up til the 9th round and the KO last night. The only other loss in his carrer was a UD to a top form Nate Campbell and it is a fight he was winning clearly until that nasty cut. Diaz is only 25 years old and remember he already has 7 championship defenses and is 9-2 in title fights in his young stellar carrer. Wins over Julio Diaz, Lorcy, Sim, finished off Freitas, and Katsidis. He can be proud of what he has already accomplished. Nothing to hang your head about Baby Bull you can take this loss and build from it. This will probally make him a better fighter. He was fighting the best fighter he has ever been in the ring with and got some textbook angles from JMM that Diaz had never seen before. What can the baby bull do next? JMM has stated he wanted to move up in weight. If he does that I can definately see him becoming champion again. He graduates this year I think. Congrats to him on that and he might have time to focus completely on boxing now. Also could Diaz go to 130? I would think that wouldn't be a problem. He looks soft in every fight. Yet he has an insane workrate and doesn't get hurt to the body often. I think if he could make 130 that would be a great move for him. There are more options there. I would love a fight between him and Linares, Soto, Juarez, Valero, or Barrios.
he should fight one of the losers in one of those LW tournament fights in a comeback fight or maybe Funeka and then look for a title shot.
He could join the LW tournament as Top Rank has other plans with Valero after the April PPV, so a 4th fighter for the semi-finals is needed. Juan Diaz is very exciting, and only lost a close one to Campbell, very distracted before the fight, and now this one to P4P king JMM, in a close fight up to the stoppage. I don't think there's another fighter at LW who could beat him, and he showed a bit better defense and power than I expected, even stunning Marquez at one point. So he can still do big things.
Diaz's heart won't be in it now. He's sadif ro ages he wants to complete his law degree. Make 130??? The guy says he can't even make LW for much longer!!!
There are still a few big names at 135 that Diaz can go after. The Barerra-Khan winner would be a good choice. A Valero fight in Texas would make sense. He coud also face the winner of the lightweight tournament. I wouldn't be surprised to see him jump to 140 for a Hatton fight either. Plenty of time and plenty of opponents for Diaz.
I like Diaz. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. Hope he doesn't get discouraged and pack it in as he is still a young man and could be involved in a lot of exciting fights yet. He looked pretty good last night but unfortunately for him he just got picked off by a better fighter.
He's allowed to retire with his head held high, I think. He could come back into boxing later on, in a position out of the ring.
I don't think his cofidence is down. He fought a great fight in JMM. I personally would like for him to rematch campbell or fight casamayor.
I hope he goes back to the gym and fights again soon. That was the first time id seen him fight and i like the guy.Even though he lost last night he has a lot to offer and is great to watch.
his day'll come, i mean ****.....theres no shame in losing to Marquez, nor Campbell if he's still got the will, i'd say he can still be a big force in the division, infact i think he could be a force at 140 aswell, even with his lack of power
Unfortunately Diaz has a style where the fighter "burns out" quickly. I think he will be around that much longer, sadly. Hope I am wrong.
Baby bull lost to the best p4p in the world in a great fight when i had diaz winning no one else can beat juan diaz in that weight class including nate cambell he looked much better than he did in that fight.. he lost to a holf er and hes only 25 he gonna only improve from this great battle.. i hope that he dont lose intrest in the game becase he can also become a great himself
