After last night I would be crushed if he retired. He is a true fighter. He should fight the loser of Pacquio vs Hatton and Marquez can take the winner.
I was at the fight last night and it was sad to see the Bull laid out like that in his hometown. With that said I think he made a good account of himself. JMM is a top 3 P4P fighter so there's no shame in losing to him he went out on his shield. What I would like to see next for The Baby Bull is soft touch then go for someone like Valero or Guzman is he's still even fighting or the MAB/Khan winner.
He is far from being finished. He will be champ again at 135. Marquez is on a mission and he will be moving up again. This maybe his demise though. The higher the weight, the more punishment he will take from stronger fighters. Diaz had him hurt early and if he would have placed some of those power shots together when he had him, who knows. I don't know if any of you posters heard Diaz say in the 9th I believe, he was telling his trainer that Marquez was hitting too hard. The fight is going to be replay in a few minutes on HBO.
I would like to see the winner of MaB/Khan or Casa/J. Diaz. No shame what so ever in losing to Marquez. The guy does not see any fighter in front of him except Pac. I think Pac will be too strong for him by the time they fight. It will be too late. Taking a punch from stronger guys is what is going to catch up to Marquez. He will follow Pac to HW if you let him.
I have a striking feeling he will retire. As a fan, I hope not.. but he's a smart kid.. he's made some money, hanging them up would be good for his health.
I wouldn't be suprised if he retired also. He wants to go to law school and if he does then he has no choice. I don't think you can get a law degree and fight at the championship level at the same time. That's too much.
If I were him I'd be vying for a rematch with JMM. If JMM can't secure a big fight against Pac or Hatton then a rematch might be the next best option. Otherwise Diaz should probably challenge the Barrera-Khan winner.
