Should Wilder fight the winner of Thompson-Price II?

The winner of that fight has bigger fishes to catch than Wilder.

Also this winner has bigger fishes to catch. Wilder is in no position to face a top contender. Should start fighting decent journeyman. How about Johnson?

Johnson would destroy Wilder. Personally I still have Johnson in top 20, a win over Wilder would make that clear, but Wilder will never fight him, too good a chin and too good a boxer.

The BIGGEST name on his boxing CV is Audley Harrison, that says everything about who he has fought before.

In answer to what he should do next, how about fighting somebody in the top 15?

Wilder is fighting on the Bernard Hopkins undercard. Opponent still to be determined but should be known within about a week.

He has just signed with Al Haymon, who is joining Shelly Finkel on the management team. Golden Boy is at the end of a contract with Wilder and plans to resign him.

That's a pretty powerful team, not sure anyone has as much backing.

What he needs next is a 'rounds guy,' someone like Dominick Guinn, who can extend him -- there are others besides Guinn, but someone along those lines. It would be a good step forward.

He can't leave the country until his legal situation is sorted out, but it does't stop him fighting within the U.S.

Absolutely. He needs to fight a few really tough guys, with good stamina and defense. Guys that will actually challenge him & take him into deep rounds. He needs to learn a little humility.

    And then.... watch out.

While Wilder is waiting for a contender to fight, he could fight a few of the other hype jobs with impressive records. Impressive numbers, not so much impressive opponents and victories.

Deontay Wilder 28-0 28 KO's vs and of these guys in
    "someone's O must go" matches:

David Rodriguez 36-0 34 KO's (we'll pretend David will still fight some day)

    George Foreman 16-0 15 KO's

Magomed Abdusalamov 18-0 18 KO's (whoever the **** he is, rated #23 by boxrec)

    Malik Scott 35-0-1 12 KO's

Get rid of some of these undefeated pretenders.
