What size gloves do you guys generally train with and by this I mean primarily focus pads, light sparring bag work e.t.c....

My coach had been lending me his 16oz gloves till I bought some but he is 6 foot 4 and 17 stone so they are probably more suited to him than me, I'm 5'11 and 14 stone! Another person there lent me their 8oz but they felt really light, good for focus pad work though, so I just got a pair of 12oz (thought I'd split the difference)

I'm 5"7 10 stone and i use 10 oz for bag and pads cos i like to 'feel' my puches
    but use 16oz for sparring

but really you could use 14oz for bag and pads if you want protection as well as the 'feel' of puching the bag

    12 oz for bags/pads
    16 oz for sparring

If I was going to get just one pair for both I would get 16oz. Unless you're really light, or you only do light sparring, or you're a pro boxer then 14oz or less isn't enough protection for hard sparring.

    16's for sparring, you're a big dude.

    12's for bagwork.
