When Greb fought Brennan over 15, it was Harry who was coming on in the final round and almost stopped Brennan. I wouldn't bank too much that his wheels fall off.

I don't think his wheels would fall off. I think he would get his ****ing face punched in.

I think you have to give Jeffries some chance.

Loughran said Greb had freakish stamina and got faster as the fight went on.Of course Tommy was not a puncher, nor was he 210lbs of muscle.Jeffries was noted for his body attack,he ruined Fitz with it,but Fitz was old and not really any heavier than Harry ,neither was Bob much of a mover.
The fact that we are seriously considering Greb's chances against an early, ultra durable titan of the ring, and not dismissing them out of hand ,illustrates how great Harry must have been.

I believe the Maestro a few years ago, had Greb as a serious threat to Tyson & Louis, or Foreman or whoever the hell the 3 or 4 True Heavies he had listed were...

    anyway, I could care less.

That's your prerogative, but if that's your position, why bother to comment on the thread in the first place?

NO, I don't care about the Maestro's Greb Claim,

in other words I agree with you're statement about Greb against Jeffries, hence my Slaugter statement!

Depends on how Jeffries approaches the fight and who his trainer is. Trying to counter and outbox Greb through the crouch is likely pointless due to Greb's experience at tying esteemed technicians up like a knot.

Jeffries' best course of action is to walk Greb down and give him no respect like he did in the Fitzsimmons rematch and near the end of the first Corbett fight. He can also use his size and strength in the clinch like in the first Fitz fight as well

    Hi Buddy.
Regarding Jeffries trainer leading up to the bout, I would imagine it would have the redoubtable Tommy Ryan, also can't see big Jim changing his style at an advanced stage in his career, thinking he would employ the crouch, stalk forward with extended left arm, and looking to hook to the body at every opportunity, ie: if it ain't broke, dont fix it, and there's the rub, from all I read over my years, the countless articles, and every book about greb ( have read them all ) this approach by Jeffries, would be grist to his mill, nothing Greb liked better than a big HW advancing toward him, " I like fighting the big men, they are a lot slower, and easier to hit " you say he should walk Greb down, if there ever was a fighter that would be hell to walk down Harry would be such, another HW who was quicker on his feet than Jeffries, I would profour, and also might have had quicker hands, would be Dempsey, from all we have read on the spar at Benton Harbour, not only couldn't Jack walk Greb down, he suffered the ignominy of his best punches hitting fresh air, try as he might in his most frightening manner, he could not land many of his vaunted shots on the elusive jack in the box that was Greb, as for using his strength in the clinches, don't see Greb standing still long enough to be caught in a clinch, I have written countless post about Greb over my nearly five years on this wonderful forum, and still posters seemingly do not take in how unique a fighter he was ( no disrespect Malankomas ) he rarely was in one place for more than 2 seconds, he would reign punches on his foe from all angles, hitting head, body, arms, torso, the onslaught would stop only when he wanted it to, he would then disappear, all your attempts at striking back amounted to nothing, he was gone out of range, just when you tried to regroup, the whole process would then be repeated, added to this, as if this wasn't enough, he grew stronger as the fight progressed, like Armstrong he finished a fight as fresh as when it started, coupled with a chin of iron, and a tendency not to cut, you have a very imposing fighter, would he have the best of Jeffries, not sure, but I am sure Jim would be chasing ghosts for the duration.
    stay safe buddy, chat soon.
    Mike.

Revisiting this thread, I do think that McVey may have a point in that the key for Jeffries to beat Greb would be to work the body at every opportunity. The biggest problem for larger, slower fighters against quicker lighter ones is to get the power to stick. If he can slow Greb down, he can win. Over a short distance I don't see him doing the job but he might do it over 15-25 rounds.
