Rewatch the fights he had that are on youtube he was a whirlwind but look at how many times he slams his hardest punches on guys perfect textbook everything behind it only to have them keep fighting....he was an accumulation puncher like Armstrong he beat fighters and hit them with everything bu the kitchen sink until they finally fell but a puncher like a JCC, Rosario, Arguello? not in a million years....his speed was average he was jacked on drugs IMO he fought like a guy on coke just high energy fanaticism....but super fast? not really but hyper for certain

That's the thing about Sugar, he was a lot tougher than a few people give him credit for. He could probably get in to a war with Pryor and eventually win ,but he had intelligence and boxing smarts to .So he'd fight Pryor like you say .He'd win the fight and have Pryor coppng it all night .

As did Mike Ayala and Howard Davis Jr. But neither one could do it on the professional level.

What if Sugar tried the clowning act as he did against Duran? Pryor was less cautious and maybe a little quicker than Duran, so if Leonard sticks his chin out, he gets hit by a sudden flurry of punches from Pryor, and that puts an end to the clowning. And just forget about the bolo, Pryor would be all over it.

He wouldn't need to do much of anything really. He's better in almost every facet of the game.

Agreed . Sugar was a very cerebral fighter . Pryor was a blown up Lightweight and was vulnerable to the knockdowns. Duran went on to fight 160 MW and Pryor wouldn't have carried the extra weight like Duran did . Leonard ko Pryor after multiple knockdowns in 7 rds.

Basically. Leonard from 1979-82 was amazing, and also had a size advantage on Pryor.

Pryor challenging Leonard at a press conference (and then turning down's Leonard's offer) really seems to have boosted Aaron's legacy. He was a terrific 140 lb fighter but he really unlikely to beat bigger and better guys at 147 like Ray and Tommy.

Ray Leonard would have torn Pryor's head off .. w all respect to Aaron Leonard would be a terrible match up .. Ray was faster, stronger, had a longer reach, was far better defensively and hit harder at 147 ... Ray would stop him in three or four active rounds .. Ray Leonard was an exceptional fighter.

I think he would try punching him in the face.

Which ever way would leave him in position to land a counter hook because Pryor was open to that punch, it`s an inside punch so maybe going toe to toe might have smart plus he had the power to hurt Pryor as the naturally bigger man but that`s what he thought v Duran and if he fought on the outside he could utilize his superior reach more.

Hearns hadn`t developed into a good enough fighter in the amateurs and didn`t punch that hard at that stage Leonard was better at dealing with swarmers than Hearns was, even though Ray got beat by Duran he fought well enough in that fight to beat Pryor I feel, every counter hook Leonard threw against Duran would have hit Pryor he couldn`t slip that punch like Duran could, there`s a film study by Reemus boxing on Pryor`s flawed defense.

I feel Pryor would be way too slow at 154lbs or above, he was shorter than Ray.
