What do you guys think would be the most efficient thing? We all know that Wlad will be doing jab jab hugging, with eventual right hands, but what can Chag do against that? One option would be to brutally attack Wlad and just see what happens. This would work IMO, but then again Wlad will just be hugging him if that happens. Still, I think the best option would be to attack Wlad from the opening bell, I think that would confuse Wlad and Chag could land a KO punch. Other than that I don't see anything he can do, because of the huge reach advantage and great jab that Wlad has.
ddt, diving head butt off the top turnbuckle....just kidding... hes best option is to get inside on wlad, and do his damage there, but i see wlad keeping him at bay with the jab all night long.
Anyway, I think Wlad wants to prove something this fight to show everybody and David Haye that he's the best. So i expect him to a bit more active this fight, yes with the jab but a few more right hands and he'll be looking for the KO. Chag needs to pounce on Wlad fast and try to work more on the inside, not to easy to get on the inside with Wlads jab.
In order for him to win, Chagaev needs some Margarito handwraps, some of that stuff to rub on your gloves like Liston used, a few paid-off judges, a biased referee, and maybe a shot gun just to be on the safe side.
I will tell you what Chagaev shouldn't do, which is stay on outside and try and box with Wlad, which is a distance Wlad is most comfortable with. There is noone in the Heavyweight division that can outbox Wlad, way too big and skilled to beat him at that game. Chagaev's best chance of winning would be for him to get on the inside and rip shots to the body, and when Wlad clinches, keep punching and fight as dirty as possible, and when the ref warns him, yell over and say "Tell him stop holding onto me on the inside". Wlad is only effective when he feels comfortable behind the jab and grab, so Chagaev will want to disrupt it by being aggressive and go bombs away in the begining, if not he will end up suffering the same fate as most Wlad oppenents.
I would circle around to my own right and keep punching Wlad hard in the left shoulder/bicep area. After about 4 or 5 rounds of that, his jabbing arm will lose some of its pop. Circling to the right also helps avoid Klitschko's right hand, whilst you take out his left arm. Sporadically throw shots to the ribs too. Then after you wear him down, start gunning for his head. It's a good plan, but most heavyweights are not skilled or disciplined enough to do it. They all think that they can take him out in one shot. They are wrong.
pot shot and move. not box in a sense becuase wlad will pop his jab too fluidly, but stay well away from him and then fient himself inside and throw some combinations and then bounce out. wlad sometimes leans down to his opponant. also he likes to force the action or at least conrtol the pace does wlad. so instead of giving something to hit, chag should do a montell griffin to roy jones and allow wlad to come on the front foot. then sprign back out.
If I was Chagaev's trainer I would tell him to: put immediate pressure on Wlad the first 2 rounds rough Wlad up in the clinches throw a few forearms or elbows maybe even a borderline low blow the referee will give a warning before he takes a point. Until he issues a warning I would keep up with the rough house tactics. That will throw Wlad off mentally. If you are Chagaev you have NOTHING to lose. If the pressure does not work go to PLan B but DO NOT stand on the outside and get jabbed to death. You have to beat Klitschko MENTALLY before you can beat him PHYSICALLY. Chagaev needs to show him he is not afraid and that he is there to fight. I think this is a 50/50 fight if Chagaev fights like he has shown he has in the past. Ruslan Chagaev can fight he is not Ray Austin or Tony Thompson.
keep his head down because Wlad can't uppercut, be willing to take a punch to land one and just rush him. If Wlad tries to grab, hit him while he holds you. Throw loads of punches and above all don't do what all his other opponents do, which is stand on the outside throwing two or three punches a round and try to become fatter and fatter with every passing second.
