Greetings everybody! Short and to the point: What do you think should a short fighter change about his technique? Different stance (because he has to bob and weave a lot)? Strike differently (because he has to punch upwards)? Etc... I'm not asking how to fight as a short boxer, just want to know if there are technique changes because of how short fighters tend to box (i.e. on the inside).
I have been sparring tonight, yes. Can't judge how hard they punched because I have no comparison to them What does that have to do with anything? Please don't go off topic and derail my thread.
Oh yeah, that might've been bad wording, sorry. English isn't my first language. I meant that I didn't want to go into the strategy and tactics of a short fighter, but rather, how the techniques (stance, punches, ...) change. This content is protected I hope that's clearer. If you already know how to "fight short", the biggest thing for me to do when my trainer switches sparring partners and I end up with a taller person, is to become more vicious. Tall guys need to be pressured, you have to be meaner.
I don't know if you would call it a 'subtle technique difference' but shorter fighters got to have excellent stamina. Tall guy can hang back and use his long jab and keep a nice slow pace if he wants. You don't have that option. You need to be on the inside mixing it up. So if you get tired, you're either not going to be able to get inside or you won't be effective once you get there.
