He has a lot of vaseline on his face which makes its slippery for his opponent and difficult to land clean punches.

He works damn hard in the gym and sends Finkel out to pick some cherries. And Finkel knows how to do that, Ortiz was just ripe and physically ruined just as he was plucked from the branch.

Jokes aside (and they were good, as always) I think Wilder has an excellent cardio and while that may not help that much with actually absorbing the shots, I've noticed that fighters famed for their conditioning and gas tank tend to recover much faster from big shots than your run of the mill fighters. That's probably why he hasn't been finished off yet, because he has been hurt and even dropped before but he's come back to win.

It's hard to hit a guy that long, that quick, and has that much power. It's hard for opponents to commit to throwing big punches because they are then vulnerable to bigger punches. I think Fury is the worst possible opponent for Wilder...and he has the formula to beat him. Tyson would box him to a boring but clear decision and that is the way to beat Deontay. If I were in Wilder's camp, I'd fight AJ 5 times in a row in the Queen's front yard before I fought Fury. I think Deontay makes AJ look lumbering and slow before eventually stopping him in the 7th round. Fury wouldn't let him land a meaningful shot, nor would Fury land a meaningful shot, but he'd land more jabs and little combos and win a clear decision. The man's chin is predicated on his athletic ability and ability to move like a cruiser weight. As someone else said, at this weight...everybody is a punch away from being stopped.

Wilder is a bad fighter but one thing he does right is shell up with his hands blocking him and his opponents always let him off the hook when hurt because they still fear his power which lets him recover. But if Ortiz had 20 more seconds left in the round he would have finished him, it's unfortunate what crap they pulled that night.

His windmills create energy that power up his chin.

He went to see a witch doctor in the Alabama woods. For a fee of 2 bottles of moonshine the glass chin was transformed to granite.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Wilder will fight Michael Davis next?

He rolls with shots a bit better now, it seems. Experience might also help.

Fury would have to be more active and in top shape to outbox Wilder. Most likely around 240-245, but even then it wouldn't be easy, since Fury is vulnerable to overhand rights and I don't think he could absorb too many from Wilder.
