he fell into the trap of getting to hyped by his own press he should have been smarter and followed the oft repeated mantra of box a brawler, brawl a boxer; it was unwise imo opinion to try to act macho and bang with a guy with a style and record of stopping people that maidana did. the yanks will never let him live down th way it ended unless he goes to war with someone else and wins. sad to see for such a nice kid
I never did and still don't buy into the Ortiz hype, hell even Ortiz doesn't anymore! I was just looking forward to a good fight and it was exactly that!
Did Ortiz just stand in front of Maidana and brawl rather than trying to outbox him? Bloody stupid if he did.
You've just ruled out the two things that are preventing that, though! I do, however, accept that he was mismatched last night.
I turned over after the post fight interview. Apparently Ortiz was saying he's too young to be getting hit like he was. Anyone see it?
I've seen it the boy needs a heart transplant! too young to get hit my arse if hes got issues with that maybe he shouldnt have turned pro so early??? say what you want about amir khan but he got up after he was down. Then he got put down again....and we all know what happened tehre. Amir has the attitude to be a champ now imo, as of last night Ortiz doesnt. Its fights like this that seperates the men from the boys! Mosley lookd like he wanted to get sick on his shoes.....
he bottled it hes not cut out to be a top fighter. Hes a manufactured athletic boxer he aint a fighter
I said the same thing in another thread. If he wants to disrespect the sport then he can get a proper job as far as I'm concerned- if he wants to make it he'll have to work at it. Instant gratification for doing relatively little is no sure thing in boxing. I bet Ortiz wasn't thinking like this when he was smashing other people up. He can dish it out but he can't take it:bbb. As for Amir, I agree with you but, that said, I don't recommend you to post that on the general!:good
