He's to nice imo seems happy with life and content...Maidana needed it more and would go that bit further to win...which is difference between champions and the average fighter.
How often to people fall for the back story, the skills, the impressive looking bouts against faded guys who were always “durable” before? He wasn’t found out as such, he just got beaten by a huge punching guy who was willing to take the punishment to give his own. What did speak badly for Ortiz was his comments post-fight which suggest he’s not prepared to be a warrior in the ring and make a comeback when nothing’s going his way. I still think he’d lay out Khan in a couple of rounds though. Here’s hoping!
It wasnt a KO in the traditional sense, it was a technical stoppage by the ref after Khan had completely outboxed him.
he needs a big change, change camps, change where he lives change everything he didnt give a **** that he had lost which was the most worrying part of it ll
Great fight. Thought Ortiz threw the right hook very well. Very good fight hope to see more fights like this from Victor and hopefully he wins some. That last punch Maidana landed in the 5th should of knocked him out he didn't seem right after that. Well done to Maidana though.
I'll probably sound a bit stupid here but Ortiz sort of reminds me of Fernando Vargas (not the same heart though). Just the way he moved and when he got stunned how he went into all guns blazing mode. If he is in 1/4 of the amount of Vargas wars ill be a fan.
i had high hopes for ortiz its a shame, i dont know about any1 else but maidana doesnt strike me as anything great. i see holt and bradley taking care of him, hes quite slow fisted one handed fighter his foot speed is also terrible, cant see the boy doing anything more then exposing the pretenders of the boxing world
He can come back but as i stated before this will tarnish his career. I hope he does come back the lads a nice guy and can be good for boxing but he reminds me of Jermaine Taylor a little he seems out of love with sport and maybe the stardom has done that....problem is Jermaine won world titles..Victor hasn't. He needs to sit down and get a new trainer because imo he's either a complete novice or they haven't taught him how to box southpaw...right foot was on inside of Maidanas left and pulling straight back on left jab. Also he seems affected by nerves he was tense in there. I know alot of people have been saying how great Maidana is and i like the guy and his heart but i wasn't overly impressed on second viewing but i do feel he has power to test any 140 pounders beard. I think Maidana can box better then he did as i seen other fights after this one and he boxed alot better.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2B3I6uJRMM I like Ortiz in defeat he's very humble and by sounds maybe i was bit harsh on him..hope he comes back and does well.
