Once one of the most highly rated boxers and now since his embarrassing defeat to Jacobs people are giving him no chance v plant or benavidez.

    160 to 168 isn't always easy.
Prime Quillin beats Callum Smith imo. Plant/ benevidez are too much for prime Quillin tho

Seems like this guy got too famous before he'd earned it. His career has seemed like it lacked direction since even before he lost to Jacobs. Was it Lukas Konechy who he had that weirdly docile fight with?

Quillin was always overrated. I couldn't fathom why Jacobs was the underdog in that fight. Seems losing your 0 to clearly talented fighters like Pirog can fool the so called hardcore fans as well.

    Jackpot!!!!
Plus he ducked $4 million because Al and Jay Z ate beefing. I would have told Al to eat a dick and took the cash.

He schooled J'Leon Love, then took on Caleb Truax, who he was schooling before a headclash ended the fight prematurely, then he was signed for the rematch with Truax, but Caleb pulled out with an injury.

Sorry to disappoint you, I don't have any witty or dismissive he's working at Payless Shoe Source like comments, how about try following the sport a little more closely or at the very least check Boxrec, then maybe you wouldn't waste your time making threads with moronic rhetorical questions like this.

Disagree, Smith is the man right now, followed by Benavidez and Plant should get beat by any version of Quillin.

Quillin is a super cool guy btw.

He had some skills, won a couple decent fights, seemed to have the opportunity. But nobody rated him as "one of the most highly rated fighters" as the thread starter claims. Definitely not. And with retrospect, I thought too highly of him at his peak and I didn't think he was any future great.

Timing is everything. Quillin arrived on the scene at a critical time in American boxing. The US fans longer for a hero in boxings glory division. They were desperate. Desperate people make bad decisions. Hence many so called knowledgeable fans and pundits hugely overrated the very ordinary Quillin.i pointed this out at the time but was ignored. Jacobs is far better than quillin. It still baffles me that I took US fans and pundits so long to realise this fact.
