Provodnikov is supposedly fighting an ancient Jose luis Castillo in Russia, November the 28th. I don´t know how anybody could justify this fight. It´s almost worse than the Salka fight.
Terrible match-up but I don't blame Provodnikov He really is an honor and glory fighter. Even though it’s crazy, it’s not about the money for him. Even in his losses… He wrecked Timothy Bradley and probably could have / should have scored a TKO win in Round 1. Bradley was #3-5 P4P in the world at the time. He beat Bradley better than Pacquiao did. Pacquiao is/was a Top 10 P4P in the world. He scored two knockdowns and almost scored a TKO win in Round 1 against Algieri. Algieri is now fighting Pacquiao. He beat Alvarado better than Marquez did, and Marquez faced a lesser version of Alvarado (one who had already been smashed by Provodnikov). Marquez is/was Top 10 P4P in the world. On top of that, Marquez explicitly refused to fight Provodnikov. So yes, Provodnikov has a limited style and limited skillset, but he has a huge heart and massive power. He can’t really be "overrated" when he poses a realistic (albeit underdog) threat to several guys in the Top 10 P4P list, including Danny Garcia, Manny, Floyd, Bradley, Marquez, etc.
I know, I am a Provodnikov fan. But fighting an old man who has not fought decent competition for almost 7 years! No reason to watch that butchering.
Good thing this event happens in Commie country-it would be laughed out of the States.Hell,Garcia-Salka would be more competitive than this garbage.
