I think B-Hop is just that good. He can completely out think and out hustle most fighters. Calzaghe only scraped his win because he is incredible quick witted in the ring and flexible enough with his style of boxing to adjust to whatever Hopkins threw at him.

Pavlik was made to look good against a fighter like Taylor. Pavlik fights in straight lines against a guy who moves in straight lines (forwards and backwards) Pavlik would land the double jab right hand all the time. Hopkins is not a fighter that moves in straight lines, he moved laterally and this confused Pavlik as he was unable to get ANYTHING off, or even cut of the ring effectively. I think the saying, styles make fights fits this scenario perfectly. And IMO Taylor was a better fighter before joining with Steward.

Yup he will be back to dominating the 160 division :good . But im glad that the hype has dyed down now. He's a good fighter, but not the knockout machine everyone was making him out to be.

Are you ****ing serious? Why the **** would Hopkins EVER fight Pavlik again? Pavlik couldn't manage to win a single round against Hopkins. If there was ever a fight with absolutely NO NEED for a rematch, THIS WAS IT!

I still believe Pavlik has some incredible power, only, it doesn't help when you can't land your bread & butter punch. Hopkins was too elusive for Kelly.

But again, I'm hard-pressed to see too many opponents capable of doing to Kelly what Hopkins succeeded in doing.

    There's only one Bernard Hopkins.

    Hopkins is what was wrong!
    Pavlik's not all that.

    It's very simple.

Unless the 40+ version of Hopkins fights someone with an insanely high workrate, he wins. He is a Master Boxer.

He was more skilled than Taylor or Calzaghe, but at 40+ he cannot match their workrate, and these days workrate = points.

Tarver, Wright and Pavlik do not have the same workrate, thus Hopkins's skills win out.

Pavlik was in the ring with a vastly superior boxer. There is no mystery.

Put Pavlik back in the mw division against non-masters, and he'll be a wrecking ball again.

Hopkins got schooled by Jones Jr.
    Trinidad got schooled by Hopkins
    Miranda got schooled by Pavlik
    Lacy got schooled by Calzaghe

The list goes on. Doesn't make Pavlik bad. Just makes Hopkins better. No shame in that.

Time will tell if Pav goes the way of Lacy or learns from his performance. I hope he learns, because I love watching the guy fight.

You can't discount the effect Pavlik's illness has on him. It's not an excuse for losing but it's a factor in the outcome none the less.

Agreed, when Pavlik connected clean his arms looked like Jelly, for a guy who's a stiff straights puncher that's very very unusual regardless of who his opponent is.
