IF the HBO unofficial scales catch Hatton at just above 150 lbs where he usually weighs fight time, there should'nt be any excuses from anyone......

.....but if Hatton only puts on 3 or 4 lbs, thats uncharacteristic from him.....so that should sound an alarm bell......

Right before the DLH-Pac fight, when the HBO commentators had said that DLH had only gained 2 lbs overnight, and that Pac was actually going to outweigh him in the fight.....I immediately said in the room I watched the fight in....."if thats true, DLH is going to get soundly beaten."

.....and I'm one that picked DLH in the belief he would climb the ring weighing 160 lbs, which he had done manyh times as a Welterweight.

As long as Hatton is near the fight time weight that he usually is at, there should'nt be a problem, and definitely no excuses.

I fully am expecting Hatton climbing the ring weighing above 150 lbs.

All props to Manny Pacquiao if he beats that version of Ricky Hatton.

hes just saying pac did not have to starve himself in the last few days. which means hes already at a comfortable fighting weight days ago. unlike hatton who looks like hes coming out of an evil dead sequel. he has to rehydrate now which means blowing up at least 10 lbs. added weight=slower reflex. you cant have that with pac.

Please, Hatton has put his body throught those vigors before and knows how to rehydrate properly......

Look what happened to DLH who was a fighter who always had dehydrated through the years to make weight........when he did'nt add the pounds after the weighin against Pac, he became simply a punching bag.

fair enough. although coming back to 140 after blowing up in weight in between fights is a bad habit especially now that he is getting older.

well just see what happens tomorrow then.

    pac ko 10

Yeah but it doesn't work like that. When you start boxing you/your trainer figure out what is the lightest possible weight you could fight in and that is your division. Hatton will be big and strong in the ring, just becausr you dedrate to make the weight doesn't mean you are carrying excess water on fight night, it just mens you rid yourself of all water to come in on the limit. A proper hydrated fighter that weighs 150 is all bone and muscle and fluids, then he dehydrates to make 140. That doesn't mean that the 10 lbs of water he carries on fight night is excess it's just what should be there anyway.

Getting sidetracked about the process of actually making weight, don't want to get away from the original topic Hattons style+his extra weight IMO defines the outcome of this fight.

That's not gonna happen. That's not Pac's style. Pac will come w/ both hands blazing on Hatton's face and body. His style in the last 5 fights is to inflict volume of punches to wear down his opponent. I think it is more advisable for Hatton to run and not allow Pac to catch him like what Barrera did the last time. But I don't think he won't do this because this is not also his style. Pac will engage but defend himself from Hatton's left hooks to the body. He will use his footwork and handspeed but he will be aggressive when he knows that Hatton's suspect defenses are down.

I hope you're right and Pac comes to fight.......I hate it when a fighter who shows up to stall and minimize exchanges gets the nod in a fight.

Usually a camp does'nt tip their gameplan......Freddie Roach has been talking up a good game about the fight not lasting 3 rounds.......when Pac weighed in at 138 lbs, it showed my thoughts were that Roach just wants Hatton to think that way and then have Pac show up to run.......so I sure hope for our sake that they both come to fight.

When have we actually seen Manny "run" the whole fight, though?

Punching and moving, yes, especially later in his career, but I've never seen a totally defensive minded, jab fest from him.

Pac came in light my friend.....I would have to believe that Pac may very well fight early, but prepared to bounce and even run if he feels the pressure, strenghth and power to just be to much for him.

138 lbs for me means that plan B for Pac is to run circles and punch less.

    I dont think they'll stay at 138.

He was in the mid 150's at the start of training camp, and he was at 147 just 2 days ago.

I think he'll rehydrate back to the mid to high 140's by fight night.

We'll see, but for the record, I say if HBO weighs them tommorow, I think Pac will weigh 145 or below, which is actually the weight he would step in the ring in when he was officially fighting at 130 lbs.

I heard Freddie say in an interview a few hours ago, that as long as his fighter goes up in weight by 10 pounds or less, within a 24 hour period, he'll be fine by that. So Pac weighing 145-148 by fight night would be my guess.

Going up 10+ pounds would just mess your body up and make you less effective, Freddie said.

152 lbs for Hatton, 145 lbs for Pac, just for fun, lets see how close I come.:D

IF my guess is right, 7 lbs heavier for a fighter of Hatton's caliber is pretty significant if you ask me.
Those 7 lbs are going to be the pounds that will imo keep Pac pinned against the ropes for Hatton to maul.

Btw, Bula.....just my honest assesment. I was initially siding with wanting Hatton to win because I wanted JMM to have a turn at him.......but now that it looks like JMM will get a crack at Mayweather.....I like both Pac and Hatton and would'nt be dissapointed with either winning.

Right now I'm just rooting for it to be a great fight!:good:bbb
