All the players that you mention(and don't mention) save Nadal, are so inconsistant that I can't categorize them as more than good players. Hewitt seemed above that crop, and for a long time he did - and I am not talking about that Federer being the cause - he has merely stopped getting to even reach semis.

I agree that there isn't a rivalry save the one between Nadal and Federer. I am not trying to take anything away from their brilliance, but the fact is that none of the other players today match them, only on their good days, and Nadals and Federers bad days - yet they still win.

Such superiority has never been seen before. Hell, even in the days when Björn Borg was the king - he went through many 5 setters to win.

Summa summarum: Men's tennis suffers what the women's tennis suffered before - lack of a wide array of consistant top performers.

note: I was years off from being a mod at this point - a precocious newbie of just seven months, in fact.

My excitement for this fight was astronomical. We don't really get this level of hype anymore in the sport (let alone May-Pac).

I always think it's fascinating when one of these very old threads pops up. It's like travelling back in time. Granted, if I had a time machine I'd probably set it for 65,000,000 BC, not for the tail end of Joe Calzaghe's career, but still. People seem better-mannered back then too.

Felt worth rescuing. It was about to skate off the functional edge of the world, here. It was on page 10,162 - currently the last page of results in the General Forum, with threads made in mid June 2007.

My theory is that once the servers become too full to support all the old threads, it deletes them in order to make room on the front-end...and that we've been in this state of zero-sum for a long time now. In other words, for every new page of threads we create we in effect kill off a page of the old.

Yeah, people had a certain level of respect back then. We could have diffrent opinions on things and you weren't called a fanboy or racist hater or YDKSAB. Oh well, keeps me on my toes anyway.

Was a highly anticipated fight that lived up to its hype. I enjoyed watching it.
